And Jesus said unto John, "come forth and receive eternal life..."
Unfortunately, John came fifth and was stuck with a toaster.

From my own Zappa collection (very short, indeed) I like the most the Live records: Bongo Fury and Live in New York. The Illinois Enema Bandit makes me laugh everytimes I listen to it.

Anybody who likes his jazzier side should try 'Make A Jazz Noise Here'. Live stuff featuring an immensely talented big band, I'd say his most technically impressive album.

Mine is mostly a "sentimental" choice: Apostrophe. It was the first Zappa album I heard cover the cover, and I fell completely in love with it. I mean, how can you beat having "Don't Eat the Yellow Snow," Cozmik Debris" and "Stinkfoot" all on one album?
Peace.

today, Bongo Fury.
Tomorrow it will be something else.
Though Apostrophe and Overnite Sensation do seem to appear slightly more often on my stereo, but only by a very small margin.

I'm probably going to get flamed mightly for this ... but I just never got
the whole Zappa thing.
I feel like I must be the only prog fan out there who doesn't appreciate
(let alone enjoy) a single piece of Zappa music.

| Well it was included in Lather. Orchestral Favourites isn't there either, although Sleep Dirt is for some reason.

Nah, not everybody has to like everything. My wife has great taste (except for her choice of husband ) and she can't stand him...but I've caught her enjoying some of the instrumental stuff when she didn't realize it was Frank. One of the cool things about Zappa is that he's so diverse that sooner or later you just might hear something you like and that could plant the seed.
Or not...many many people have lived a rich full existence without ever being Zappa fans. ![](smileys/smiley36.gif)

Zappa is very hard to get, but when got he will you a lot of amusement. Try the lighter things, you'll like what you'll hear.

I have only heard Grand Wazoo and Joe's Garage (and parts of Hot Rats) Unfortunately. I voted Grand Wazoo since i like that even better than Joe's Garage.
