Mellotron Scratch for me. But it's a hard choice to make, Deadwing is an astonishing album in its entirety!

Jesus never managed to figure out the theremin either

An excellent album! I'd say it's a nice intro to PT noobs.

Glass Arm Shattering for me. What an incredibly beautiful melancholy feeling! I love it!

Not a Bad album, although it does sound a bit poppy in spots.
I like "Arriving Somewhere but not here"
My fav album is: The Sky Moves Sideways

It was close between mellotron scratch and the start of something beautiful. Voted for neither.
That being said shallow was the song that got me into porcupine tree and eventually all of progressive music.
uhm??

Arriving Somewhere but not Here is a genius of a song. With a beautiful, melodic start to a rumbling heavy Metal rhythmn in the middle. Great song with a lot of variation. Unfortunately, none of the songs on Deadwing are as strong as some of the ones on In Absentia.

I voted Open Car, not because it's the best (Arriving...) or most rocking (Shallow), but because it's so evocative.

SW's lyrics are perfect anyway, but Open Car has perfect lyrics perfectly sang, so much variation in one short song.

Hair blowing in an open car
Summer dress slips down her arm

Sublime
