Oh? Ever thought about the difference between rationally approaching the structure, melody, etc. of a song or actually experiencing and feeling it? Let's add to the list: Entre Nous by Rush... |

I also like Grand Parade of Lifeless Packaging ( I think it is about fifty fifty on this track )
I also like Turn It On Again. Now I admit the lyrics are dreadful and the tune ain't much and the vocals are ordinary. The only thing it has going for it is it's unusual beat.
But somehow the total angst fits together for me and I endorse it.

You've just had a heavy session of electroshock therapy, and you're more relaxed than you've been in weeks. |

Rainmaker - Kansas
Not only this song, but the entire disc. Very underrated in my opinion. (In the Spirit of Things) I really enjoy the first song, Ghosts, as well. |

Not sure why, but I've always liked Kansas'' "Back Door" from Audio Visions. Walsh's vocals are absolutely brilliant.

...and from the new wave side of the 80's-- I've always loved Haircut 100's "Love Plus One". Such a catchy little tune, how could you not like it.

Asia "Only Time Will Tell".
There are so many things wrong with this song and album. I can't help but like the song. Wish I could explain why.

Rainmaker is a good song and I enjoy the whole album. But since it isn't up to the previous standard of Kansas, it is often dismissed as being bad. Nature of the beast. What have you done for me lately? And many other cliches that I'm sure apply to the situation.
As far as not knowing why I don't like a song? If it's got a funky beat and I can dance to it... But seriously, I love prog but if something has got a good sound and makes me happy, I don't care what kind of music it is or why I like it. Subjectivity is what makes us human (as well as the whole opposable thumb deal). |
