kuin kotimaa tää pohjoinen,
maa kallis isien.

On maamme köyhä, siksi jää,
jos kultaa kaivannet.
Sen vieras kyllä hylkäjää,
mut meille kallein maa on tää,
sen salot, saaret, manteret
ne meist on kultaiset.

Ovatpa meille rakkahat
koskemme kuohuineen,
ikuisten honkain huminat,
täht´yömme, kesät kirkkahat,
kaikk´kuvineen ja lauluineen
mi painui sydämeen.

Täss auroin, miekoin, miettehin
isämme sotivat,
kum päivä piili pilvihin
tai loisti onnen paistehin,
täss Suomen kansan vaikeimmat
he vaivat kokivat.

Tään kansan taistelut ken voi
ne kertoella, ken?
Kun sota laaksoissamme soi,
ja halla näläntuskan toi,
ken mittasi sen hurmehen
ja kärsimykset sen?

Täss on sen veri virrannut
hyväksi meidänkin,
täss iloaan on nauttinut
ja murheitansa huokaillut
se kansa, jolle muinaisin
kuormamme pantihin.

Tääll´olo meill on verraton
ja kaikki suotuisaa,
vaikk onni mikä tulkohon,
maa isänmaa se meillä on.
Mi maailmass on armaampaa
ja mikä kallimpaa?

Ja tässä, täss´ on tämä maa,
sen näkee silmämme.
me kättä voimme ojentaa
ja vettä rantaa osoittaa
ja sanoa: kas tuoss´ on se,
maa armas isäimme.

Jos loistoon meitä saatettais
vaikk´ kultapilvihin,
mis itkien ei huoattais,
vaan tärkein riemun sielu sais,
ois tähän köyhään kotihin
haluamme kuitenkin.

Totuuden, runon kotimaa
maa tuhatjärvinen
miss´ elämämme suojan saa,
sa muistojen, sa toivon maa,
ain ollos, onnees tyytyen,
vapaa ja iloinen.

Sun kukoistukses kuorestaan
se kerran puhkeaa,
viel lempemme saa hehkullaan
sun toivos, riemus nousemaan,
ja kerran, laulus synnyinmaa
korkeemman kaiun saa.

Wow! Tell me you didn't use copy/paste?

I've actually been to Finland and during the cold season.  I think I still get a headache when I think about riding on that ice breaking boat...

Helsinki is beautiful under snow tho!

I don't blame ya!
I have never been on a icebreaker boat, but many times at Viking Line or Silja Serenade chillin' and buying taxfree goodies...

I'm not big fan of winter season. Too cold and too dark for me...
Summer is very warm, but little too short. I do like autumn very much, though.
I love to take long walk with my dogs, and listen good music with minidisc...

In wintertime, only fun thing is icehockey. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to play it myself, but I sure like to watch it. That's one thing I'm really jealous to Sweden. They have amazing players in their league!

Finland-Sweden games are classic rivalries, they are so popular that streets are almost empty when there is Fin-Swe game on TV...

Stern SmileOnly problem with Swedeland is that it's full of Swedes....Confused

Velvet you seem to mean Swede f**k all to the enchanting (but icy, like your little country in the depressing depths of winter) Petra-fied.Ouch

Big smileAh well, there's always the solace of chronic alcohol abuse and insomnia....Thumbs Up

"Sounds like heaven to me", he said, staring out at the arid wasteland of the Mohave Desert. "One gets so tired of empty skies and pounding sunshine. I often dream of a summer home in the Faroes, actually..."

One day an Englishman, an American, and a Canadian walked into a pub together. The proceeded to each buy a pint of Molson Canadian. Just as they were about to enjoy their beverage three flys landed in each of their pints, and were stuck in the head of the beer.

The Englishman pushed his beer away from him in disgust.

The American fished the offending fly out of his beer and continued drinking it as if nothing had happened.

The Canadian too , picked the fly out of his drink, held it out over the beer and then started yelling "SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT YOU BASTARD!!!!"

Being a former Canadian Forces pilot I would have killed to have had the chance to fly a SAAb J-35 Draken or SAAB J-37 Viggen superb aircraft. I had the chance to sit in a Viggen and sreak with the pilot at an airshow in England. Swedish engineering is second to none and it is good to see that the newer Grippen has export customers in South Africa Hungary and Austria. Svenska for Hele .Tida
