I prefer by fare the "artisanal" fantasy and imagination of his first organ and electronic manipulations works:
"Irrlicht" and the double album "cyborg"
From his classic era I consider "Mirage" as the summit of his musical creativity...similar material in moondawn, Timewind and Body Love but the compositions are much more "consistent"

Ah Mr. Schulze my fav solo artist of all time along with Tangerine Dream as my fav group. He is still making great music today but is looking quite unwell in the recent photos on his website. His 70's period is a good place to start but all periods of his music have treasures awaiting to be found by anyone whos interested.

I see Dreams isn't too popular. I like it quite a bit, and it's easily better than En=Trance, which, as one poster opined, is rather bland, boring.
Favorite? Easy: that's got to be X!

anyone familar with the late 70's french band ZED(Visions of Dune)? or the german Wolfgang Bock(Cycles). very good stuff similar to Klaus late 70's output without being copycat(unless you think anyone that plays a Stratocaster is a Hendrix-clone), maybe better!

Neuronium (Michel Huygen, and Carlos Guirao on the early stuff) has some good albums. One-time Eloy keyboardist Manfred Weiczorke made an electronic album in 1986 called Transfer. It's not very Schulzian, overall, but very good. I think you'd like it.

Btw, do you have a source for a CD (reissue, preferably, or unabridged version) of Neuronium's Vuelo Quimico? I used to have that on cassette!

"The Dresden Performance" shows that Schulze can still make a really good album after all those years!
