both are good, I voted for Misplaced Childhood because they are both two of my most listened to albums. But if I had to choose I might go for Script because of the pompous keyboards, and the guitar part in "The Web" is great. Both have excellent but very different lyrics, so it depends on my mood which I think is better.

I agree that the guitar part in The Web is awesome!
Marillion are probably my favourite band and while the merits of Misplaced Childhood have been discussed for years, in this instance I have to vote for Script. It's a better overall album. There are sections of Misplaced Childhood that are stunning but Script doesn't have a weak moment.

It's hard to compare these two albums cause both are great. But if I HAVE TO choose, I will go for SCRIPT because of following reasons:
1. Script was the hero of prog when at the time (1983) all great bands like Genesis, Yes, etc went pop and only new band MARILLION stood out tall with their "So here I am once more! In a playground of a brokenheart .. One more experience one more entry in a diary self penned! Yeatanother emotional suicide ..." Oh .... what a memorable lyrics man! Can u imagine how happy I was at the time? After a long period of waiting great prog album to come out, new band took the market by the storm ...!!! Marillion rules!!!!!
2. The best ... yeah .. the best Marilion song todate is FORGOTTEN SONS!!!! Yeah .... "Peace on earth and mercy mild. Mother Brown has lost her child ...just another forgotten sons!!!!"
Keep Marillioning ... keep on proggin' ....!!!

Thank you Gatot I always thought you have something special to say about Marillion...and these lyrics under your reviews seemed to be so well-known to me... ...they're from Incommunicado?..No,wait...maybe,that's H era?...no it MUST be something from Script-era...Maybe,Charting the Single?..
Just kidding

I've not heard Script... but I really like Misplaced Childhood, so MC gets my vote.

misplaced childhood was my first introduction to marillion. it blew me away instantly the first time i listen to it.
but when i had the chance to spin script, i learnt that, as a debut, in a time when prog was nowhere to be seen or heard, script successfully set the bar for what is now neo-prog. it's intricate, complex, and yet captivating. it's a package of irresistible set of songs -- the title track, he knows you know, garden party, and (above all) forgotten sons.
i'll go for script.

Script. Ibought it on vinyl when it was first released. It's still my favourite Marillion album AND I still don't see why so many people make such a fuss about MC. It's a good album, but certainly not the classic that many fans consider it to be IMHO.

I voted for "Script" because each song is great.
"Misplaced" has a great story but is musically a little weaker IMO.
Cheers.

I prefer Script.
I find this album more musically complex and enchanting than Misplaced Childhood.

I know Marillion I've been a big fan since "script" first come out back in 83. Now the thing is both these Cd`s in question are great but the deciding factor for Misplaced Childhood having the edge lies in Mosley being the drummer ... and Misplaced Childhood seems a more consistent album overall . Basically anybody who says Script is better isn`t hearing what I hear when I play these albums. Misplaced is superior in every way including its production

I like Misplaced because it follows on each side with the Side A and B suites, however Script is great because of it's got 6 great tracks. I can't really choose but i'll have to go for Misplaced

Script wins this easily. It is my second favourite Fish-era album, after Clutching At Straws.
Misplaced Childhood is good, but slightly overrated.

It's always funny when we get someone 'stating a fact' instead of an opinion.
I too, know Marillion, having been a big fan since Script came out.
And I obviously hear things differently. Script has superior songs. And a better atmosphere.
(Now I am stating facts!)
Of course, this is really all personal opinion, as it should be.

This is difficult, but i'd have to go with misplaced childhood, perhaps because I'm more familiar with it, but I have script as well and I think I like misplaced slightly more.
