Usually, I'll listen to a bit of one of the albums I buy on the way home.  Then I listen to albums in their entirety, one by one, almost exclusively when I work out.  I'll go downstairs, put on a CD or vinyl, and let it play while I exercise.  When I'm on the computer I prefer to open winamp and let it run through a random selection.  Most of the stuff I haven't listened to already are my dads albums that I've ripped to try out.

I usually listen to music on my computer while I'm browsing through forums. When I first get an album, if it's something particularly difficult, I sometimes put it on the computer and let it sink into the background and play it about 3 times like this just so my subconscious soaks the melodies in, and then I play it and devote my attention to it and I understand it better. That's what I did with Pat Metheny's "The Way Up." When you've got a 60-minute composition with heavy jazz influence and a lot of improvisation, that's a good way to approach it.
The crux of the biscuit is the apostrophe.
