I haven't listened to some of the albums, but 90125 really disappointed me and bored me so much I don't think they could do worse later... Could they?

I'd say, give it another try. There's much to discover in Tales. I always found the 'epic' side of Yes the most interesting.... |

Which is what's wrong with "Tales". Whatever the songs may be, the performance on that album is so flat that I find the album hard to listen to. We're they boring each other to death in the studio? But for sheer bad album, I can't decide between "Talk" & "Open Your Eyes" |

Trust me. I know what I'm doing.

I completely disagree with you.....but as Wakeman already said: 'it's an album you love or hate'....

agreed, an album you have to go into with an open mind. If you have your mind up before you even listen to it, you won't like it. It's not an easy album, but come on, it's art (prog ) and sometimes you have to put a bit of time, effort, and..... thought to appreciate. The rewards are worth the time and effort. |

What are you talking about? Tales is by far the best Yes albumn. Yes, i understand its a love it or hate it albumn, but to say that it made you stop buying Yes albumn's is rediculas. I guess you dont like really well played music. But yea, I said Big generator, but I would agree with any 80's Yes cd being the worst. |

Like all the Yes albums I own. The ones I don't have - 90125, Big Generator, Talk and Open Your Eyes have just never appealed to me. |

Open your eyes and shut your ears!!! From far the worst! Big Generator , Talk and 90125 were bad albums but given the context they are still usefu - yes had a different focus thenl!! how could Yes do such a crap[py album after the two Keys To Ascenscion - especially after the good studio tracks - is beyond me!!!!! |

There are actually some people who think "Open Your Eyes" is better then "Close to the Edge", "Going for the One", or even "Drama"??

I'm not sure about the worst but Tormato is definitely the one I found most disappointing. In addition there is Howe's decline from the brilliance on Going for the One, drums that sound like amplified cardboard boxes and Rick Wakeman's dodgy synth sounds. How I hate that cheesey solo on Don't Kill the Whale. It makes me want to swim out to sea and hack them all up into blubber, which I don't think was the point of the song! |

I know what you mean (and I share your sentiments about the whaling song!) but there's still the ocassional flash of the old magic on it....once or twice anyway............whereas if I'd been given "Big Generator" or "Union" as an example of a Yes album I would have tossed it in the bin and dismissed Yes as a boring load of old f*rts! |

It's good to know I'm not alone! The only things I can listen to off it are the slower songs like Onward and Madrigal. All the rockers sound sluggish. I think I actually prefer Big Generator. At least it has I'm Running which is pretty energetic and proggy. |
