Punk!?!
I'd say Prog Metal. These guys are definitely Progressive. Concept albums put them into this realm. Granted the musician chops aren't on the line of Dream Theater, their abilities certainly do not slack. I think the votes against them being prog are unrealistic or based upon incomplete digestion of their music.
Sure, the lead singer has Geddy Lee overtones/range/etc...but this alone doesn't make them prog. I'd say the construction of their most recent CD is enough to make them Prog.
I couldn't believe Radiohead is considered Prog and these guys aren't. Come folks...really give these guys a chance. I certainly think they deserve a spot on this website as a Prog band.

So they get treated like Rush did. Being a long time fan of Rush,
and seeing so many "Rush is not Prog"articles and early Internet
threads, it's not a surprise.
Hmmm. Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose.

They should go in the "Prog-Related" section. I hate Prog as a gnre title.

Just listen to the bonus track on In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth 3: its called 2113 (hehe). To start with, it opens with a weird chord and then starts playing this cool 2 note melody and the bass plays in counterpoint. Its incredibly prog and very very cool, just listen to the guitar break after "and ive got a secret" it is amazing and prog as f**k! sounds like its plucked straight out of 2112 or fresh from a dream theater album
PROG AS f**k MATE!!!!!

I'm so prog, I clap in 9/8

firstly, what exactly do videos have to do w/ music?
WWI+WWII are extremelely prog. WWIV is very Floydian.
WWIII (to a lesser extent)
(the stuff from iks (the album) had very bad mixing. the person who mixed it was making an "emo" CD whereas coheed was trying to make a prog CD. try to see its proggy elements)
In Keeping Secrets (the song)
The Crowing
the light and the glass (starts off as a slow song and slowly builds and builds to an explosive ending)
2113 (hehehe...)
those are some of the best representatives of the progness.
plz... someone that answered no, listen to these. id love to hear what u thnk after listenin to them.

They are most definitely progressive. I think a lot of you are judging ignorantly, not having heard enough of their catalog. Songs like "The Crowing," "In Keeping Secrets...," "2113," and the entire series of "The Willing Well" (four songs) are surely progressive.

From where I'm sitting I see Coheed and Cambria the same way I see Muse, Radiohead and Tool. I like a couple of these bands somewhat but hardly approve of them being on progarchives most of the time.

They play a lot of different styles, so it's tough to say. There are some mp3s online, but be aware that those mp3s, which are most likely their hits, do NOT exemplify the band. They're good pop songs though.

they are a crappy little band who cant be rush but wants to so dam bad
that the lead singer cut his little jibblies off to get his horrible
Lee impression. No, this does not mean the Mr.Lee cut his jibblies off,
he is just too cool for that.

They have no desire to be like Rush or anyone else for that matter. I read a long article on the band including an interview. They themselves said that they get compared to Rush because of the vocal sound and Sci-Fi content of their lyrics. They do consider themselves progressive though.

I'm glad. If there was anything on it worse that the hit single it would be very
disappointing.
Also, they have a song called 2113 and they say they aren't influenced by
and never listened to Rush? Strange.

This is an odd one. I wanted them to be in the archives to start with but as i listened to them more and more i think they aren't that prog. Sure they make concept albums but that doesn't make them prog. I would be glad for them to be added under "Prog related" but in my opnion they aren't prog. And if they do get put in then i demand Family be entered into the archives.

"Welcome Home" is without question "touching" metal. Some other songs in their have metallic riffs and what not, but they are by no means a metal band.
