Through the Years: One track per decade

And another from me. I have a few more I would like to list, but I don't want to double-post lists. I hope some others participate, and/or some more who participated try some more lists, and not just so I can keep my lists coming, haha.. I have been checking out all of the music that has been suggested, at least in part, when adding it to the playlist and after. Quite a few mentioned that I already knew and really loved. I like to play the playlist on my phone and I do tend to focus a little more on the more modern of times, and one that is off an album I do not own that I am always really pleased to hear (had heard and liked the track before), is Thank You Scientist's Gigglebutton.

By the way, of the lesser-known tracks I suggested in these lists that I have not plugged as much as some others over the years, one that I hope some people will check out if they appreciate a kind of space-age loungey Indie art pop with Krautrock qualities (avenues I am so very into) is the Swedish band Komeda's "Borgo" off the 1993 album Pop på Svenska. For those into Stereolab and/or Pram, Broadcast, Vanishing Twin I would think it should likely appeal. This is my favourite track off the album.



Thanks to all who have taken the time to make lists. I realise that some don't like to focus on individual tracks, but it does make it so much easier to get more acquainted with what various members of our fine forum enjoy. As said, everyone has posted music I enjoyed. And if this thread keeps going I might indulge myself in writing a bit more about my favourites from each person.

By the way, I had thought about going farther back in years, but then I was looking for some decent quality original recordings from the decade represented which can be hard when you go farther back. But nothing at all wrong with presenting compositions from earlier 20th century even if recorded much later.

^^ I often answer seriously when people are being sarcastic and facetiously when people are being serious. It annoys the hell out of some people. I used that emoji facetiously as a joke, but it doesn't come off.

I haven't really been into Yes other than some of the classic albums, but that later Yes was sounding better than I expected. Fragile was one of the first albums I bought for myself. I think "Heart of the Sunrise" would have been my 70s pick.

^ As for the Rolling Stones, "Stray Cat Blues" off Beggar's Banquet was my brother's favourite. Not very PC lyrics one might say. My RS choice off the top off my head if just one would be "2000 Light Years From Home" off 1967's Their Satanic Majesties Request.

^ Thanks Richard, I almost went with "Life on Mars?" in my first list. It's one of my all-time favourite songs. Unfinished Sympathy by Massive Attack is great. Teardrop is my particular favourite by Massive Attack and led me to falling for Cocteau Twins due to Elizabeth Fraser's involvement. And Ultravox is excellent.

And I just finished listening to Bat for Lashes' Laura. It is lovely.
