Have you seen this guy Josh Shapiro talk ?   Impressive dude.

No, I haven't seen (or heard) Shapiro talk, and that's part of the issue. DeSantis is getting the press at the moment and is fast becoming the new conservative darling. If Republican voters want to stay conservative without fully embracing the complete kooks and conspiracy crazies on the Right, then DeSantis is currently the last stop on that line...and he seems to have the backbone to stand up to the Trump bullying schoolyard tactics.

Well Shapiro's a democrat, just won Governor of Pennsylvania, and he can handle DeSantis ... and I mean handle :

I'm not usually impressed by these sorts of headlines (referring to the video title), but that was pretty grreat. This guy will hopefully get some national spotlight now.

I must say Rump's "announcement" tonight was quite a fizzle, the crowd looked & sounded more like those small deflated groups late after an election that their candidate is rapidly losing.  Good stuff.

Is Pence still in the running? ShockedDead

I was more terrified of him than I was of Trump, but it's not like he became a convincing presidential candidate during his vice-prez mandate.

^ He's a classic avuncular old-school conservative that may appeal to the walker-bound Midwest & south.

OK, I watched this clip. He comes across as an Obama clone who hits all the right points for Democrats. I would certainly prefer to see him as a candidate for the Dems rather than Biden but that's not saying all that much really.

It seems that the bloated orange buffoon is trying to walk back the rhetoric after the poor showing of the more out there candidates he endorsed, but he is walking a fine line, trying to sound a bit less crazy without alienating the far right kooks he depends on so much.

One interesting thing for me is how Ivanka (and her parasite husband) have publicly stepped away from this campaign altogether to spend more time with their kids. Yeah, right.

I don't know if that would be such a selling point given the current climate in the US at the moment (unfortunately).

Absolutely, her retreat from her Dad & political life was stark.

He looked weak, wan, and weary, and if it's one thing the crazy Right hates it's a loser.  I don't see him being the nominee.

I don't think there is only one thing the crazy Right hates. Wink

If the Republican party had any sense they would step away from Trumpism ASAP, but I'm still wondering whether the Republican party has any sense at the moment.

Still, it will be interesting to see how it all plays out. That's one thing about the orange egomaniac. He has made politics interesting for a lot of people.

Hi,

The only hope we have is that he gets totally wasted in the first primaries, as in 2 or 3 big losses right off the bat, for him to go away. If he doesn't he will break away and become an independent, and at that point the Republican party is totally screwed.

I, honestly, don't see a good solution, either way, and the bruhaha over Jan 6th will probably die out ... he played the "game" with the lawyers and such and came out of it on top. He probably feels that with all the lawyers he's above the law anyway!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Memory could fail me, but...
Isn't that what happened in 2015??
He was running behind, but refused to quit and eventually outlasted everyone?
At the time, he was running away from bankruptcy issue and going for the Prez made him "untouchable".

^Yes, but he had no worthy opponents, as I recall the Rep field was embarrassingly weak.  People hate him now, and I mean hate, DeSantis no exception.  I'd be surprised if some of DeSantis' people hadn't suggested they "pay a little visit to the Fat Man and explain things to him".  Trump is now messing with the big boys, hardballers, the ones who will kick your teeth in if you cross them.

It's interesting that the adolescent oompah loompah has announced he is running for presidency when he first has to win the Republican nomination.

If he doesn't win the Republican nomination he will have to run as an independent, which will tear the Republican vote in half and give the Democrats a clear run to the white house.

The GOP made a deal with the orange devil and now they will have to reap the whirlwind.
