For me, there are six titles in this poll that I enjoy quite a bit. DCD is not one of them.

I can honestly say there are no albums I dislike in this poll, mainly because there's no Gentle Giant, King Crimson or Van der Graaf Generator albums in the poll.

^I'm just happy that in a year when this the best prog has to offer, my personal preferences is looking for music elsewhere. |

Looking back, the 1980's were a surprisingly good decade for prog, although I didn't think so at the time, mainly because I didn't know many of these albums back in the pre-internet days, when I only knew one album (Deep Purple - The House of Blue Light) in this poll.

Pink Floyd, then Marillion.
Rush album is actually my least favorite from their discography, such a letdown after the amazing Power Windows.

While most others were diminishing in quality, Fish and the guys released the best album of their career:
Clutching at Straws

I love two of these, namely the Earthworks album and Dead Can Dance. I'll go with Earthworks. I think much Earthworks work is great, and very underappreciated. Crest of a Knave is at least OK.

Between Crest of a Knave & Clutching at Straws for me . I went with Tull here. I always thought that was an underrated album.

Although I have several of these albums (plus seeing some of the associated tours), 87 was probably a low point for prog...

While my list would be very different overall, definitely the Dead Can Dance of these (a sure favourite of mine from the year), but I also have enjoyed the Mr. Sirius album.
Two particular favourites of mine in PA and not in the list are Swans' Children of God and Art Zoyd's Berlin. |

It's good to see Pink Floyd doing surprisingly well here. There are five potential albums I could vote for in this poll:- The Chris Hinze Combination; Dead Can Dance; Geoff Downes; Outer Limits or Tangerine Dream. My vote goes to the eye of the Tyger - one of the few Tangerine Dream albums (besides Cyclone) to feature vocals.

I had a feeling DCD's Within the Realm of a Dying Sun would be your favourite album in this poll. ![]() Dead Can Dance are one of those offbeat bands I only discovered after I went online in 2010.

Number of albums I'd listened to in the poll before 2010 = 1 (DP)
Number of CD albums I currently own in the poll = 5 (APP; DCD: MO; PF; YES) Number of albums I've listened to in the poll now = 25 ![]() You could say the year I first went online in 2010 was my musical renaissance, when I discovered there's a lot more to Symphonic Prog than just Renaissance.

Geoff Downes > Mike Oldfield > Pink Floyd > Saga > Rush > Alan Parsons Project.
Patrick Moraz's Human Interface album belongs on this poll!

Patrick Moraz is on my new Swiss Roll of Honour playlist, so I'll give the album a listen, eventually.
