Based on the ‘90s equivalent of this post, I expected to go through the RYM list and find a lot of different albums from your list that I liked as much or more than your selection. I was incredibly surprised to find that if I were to compile a list it would probably be almost identical to your own for this decade. From the top 200, there are only three albums that I would include in my list that are not in your own:
Lorde - Melodrama Leprous - Bilateral Tricot - T H E I guess the question then, is which three albums I would take out of your list, to make room for these three? 😜 |

For my own 25 albums I know (and love) from RYM's 10's/200 chart, I would have shared about 15 of those Logan's got in his poll, and these ten: Vektor - Terminal Redux Weyes Blood - Titanic RisingKendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly A Tribe Called Quest - We got it from Here… Thank You 4 Your service PJ Harvey - Let England Shake Godspeed You! Black Emperor - 'Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend! Queens of the Stone Age - ...Like Clockwork Matana Roberts - Coin Coin Chapter One: Gens de couleur libres The Caretaker - An Empty Bliss Beyond This World Starspawn - Blood Incantation -also love: 201. Sons of Kemet - Your Queen Is a Reptile
208. Blood Incantation - Hidden History of the Human Race |

^ Yeah, I was sorely tempted to mention Sons of Kemet, as it is only just outside the top 200, but in the end I decided to stick to the parameters Greg used. I would easily have included the Sons album, otherwise.
I love QotSA, but for some reason, I never quite gelled with the album. I own it. I like it. I just don’t know if I could put it in my top 25 from the RYM list of 200. I also thought about mentioning Kendrick Lamar, but ultimately again decided I didn’t think it would oust one of the other albums already in my list, nor the three I specifically mentioned that I would want to include. But my own list, not going by the RYM list, would likely have 24 completely different albums, with only Bowie’s magnificent parting gift to us from the RYM list likely to make my own. |

Call me crazy, but I would never consider Shorter a rock artist. but yes...I forgot he is listed here. And yes. Outside of prog my listening interests are jazz and avant-garde based. I'll give a listen to this videos when I have a moment.

I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect. |

Not a hip hop or R&B fan, are we?
My Beautiful Dark Twisted fantasy is really good, y'all. It's got a 21st Century Schizoid Man sample on it. Love, DreamTechPlus.

^ There's hip hop and R&B that I like, but I wouldn't call myself as a fan. They are not genres that I tend to intentionally seek out even if I seek out some music which gets classified as belonging to those genres. I am more into so-called trip hop than hip hop. I am a fan of groove, and often if it grooves me then it moves me.
I mentioned Death Grips in the thread earlier, which I like, for the mixtape Exmilitary in particular. ---------------------------------------------------------------- For some other albums I have played recently from the decade: Uboa The Origin of My Depression (2019) (at 432 on the RYM chart). Uboa is very reminiscent of Lingua Ignota. Her album The Sky May Be (2018) is my favourite of hers thus far. I also listened to Kadhja Bonet's Childqueen (2018) album in full last night which I had discovered than to a post in a video thread some time back. It is classified as Psychedelic Soul, Neo-Soul at RYM. Edited by Logan - July 21 2022 at 12:39 |
