And I see we have our possible troller already "voting." Can anyone with higher powers than me get that out of there?

I have to think about this. I will probably only be listening to the actual nominations this time (it took very long to get through everything in the last poll), and consequently I will only post one track too. But I have quite a few options to choose from.

It was me, and it was a "mistake" OK??? I accidentally clicked on it, and you're so merciless to even think the possibility of me being a troll!!! Just kidding - OK April 1 has passed, but this April Fool poll still is valid, isn't it? Edited by Shadowyzard - April 02 2021 at 15:05 |

^ Couldn't be sure if you saw the below part of my post. It was a total joke, including my accidental clicking.

And confirming this is a real poll, not a Sears poll.

^ No one is voting for the "prophets" though, which is a good sign to reach a secular future.

I think this song enjoys the spirit of the poll.
It's an Italian classic, year 1965. Rita Pavone: Viva la Pappa col Pomodoro /Long Life to the Tomato Soup VIVA LA PAPPA COL POMODORO / LONG LIFE TO THE TOMATO SOUP (partial lyrics) Chorus: Viva la pa-pa-pappa / Long Life to the so-so-soup Col po-po-po-po-po-po-pomodoro / With the to-to-to-to-to-to-tomato Ah, viva la pa-pa-pappa / Long Life to the so-so-soup Che è un capo-po-po-po-polavoro /Which is a ma-ma-masterpiece Ah, viva la pa-pa-pa-pappa / Long Life to the so-so-soup Col po-po-pomodor! /With the to-to-Tomato La storia del passato ormai ce l'ha insegnato / The history of the past has taught us now Che un popolo affamato fa la rivoluzion / That a hungry people makes the revolution Ragion per cui affamati abbiamo combatutto / That is why we have fought hunger Perciò, buon appetito, facciamo colazion / So, good appetite, let's have breakfast Repeat Chorus La pancia che borbotta è causa del complotto /The rumbling belly is the cause of the conspiracy È causa della lotta: "Abbasso il Direttor!" /It is the cause of the struggle: "Down with the director!" La zuppa ormai l'è cotta e noi cantiamo tutti /The soup is now cooked and we all sing Vogliamo detto fatto, la pappa al pomodor! / We mean done, the tomato soup! Repeat Chorus Viva la pa-pa-pappa Col po-po-pomodor / Long Life to the to-to-Tomato so-so-Soup!

Amos Goldberg (professor of Genocide Studies at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem): Yes, it's genocide. It's so difficult and painful to admit it, but we can no longer avoid this conclusion.

Both songs are all in all melancholy, if we consider the music, but the second brings out the humor for the contrast between music and lyrics and cold, staid singing. The first from the melodic point of view is very nice.

Thank you! I often find that there is a hint of melancholy in things that are also funny, perhaps my penchant for dark humour....I know a lot of songs in this vein, I had a hard time selecting 3, well, 4, but am saving a few of the others for potential other polls where they might also fit.

Raff: Oh what a funny hard rock! Shadowyzard:
Well, here the fun is guaranteed. The first Japanese song, including music, song and video, has a guaranteed place on the podium, if you will nominate it! Beautiful also the second but the third Turkish song, with a delightful Turkish woman, would also have its place on my podium! the fourth is really a guilty pleasure, the fifth, by a Spanish singer is also super goliardic and would be a contender for my podium. |

What would a humorous poll be without Harry Nilsson? There are so many tracks that I could have posted from him, but I picked this one for the way it pokes fun at everything.....
Harry Nilsson - "The Most Beautiful World in the World" _____________________ Next, Fred Eaglesmith asks the age old question....but you have to listen to know what the question is.... Fred Eaglesmith - "White Trash" ______________________ Here is one that not only tells an interesting story, but also has an interesting slant on history.... Joe Ely - "Me & Billy the Kid" _____________________ And, finally a short one from Monty Python, but one that you don't hear as often. It makes fun of a certain church hymn singing about the "other" side of God's creations.... Monty Python - "All Things Dull & Ugly" |
