Led Zeppelin are my main non-prog love, I can pretty much listen to them for hours on end and never get sick of them. Occasionally, I'll listen to The Beatles(but only post-65).

I'd like to get more into Deep Purple, all I have is a compilation on cassette called When we rock we rock and when we roll we roll.

What I've heard of Black Sabbath doesn't really entice me.

I also like some Miles Davis.

the good old Grateful Dead

Velvet Underground (as well as Lou Reed and John Cale)

Miles Davis

Jan Garbarek

William Ackerman (lovely acoustic guitar and small group)

Hamsa El Din and other traditional North African music

Hayden, Vivaldi, Beethoven

There are too many good bands for me to remember and mention here...

Folk and Darkwave huh?  Do you like Pazuzu?

Also, how about Death In June?  I like the acoustic albums, amazing stuff and great lyrics.

When I first read this I thought you wrote the Bluesbreakers. Now that's good
stuff. If you ever get a chance listen to the guitar work by Clapton or Peter
Green with Mayall and the breakers. Great stuff.

Maybe an empty cassette might be the ultimate recording for you?

^ Yes, the sound of silence is the most beautiful: reflect & introspect!! Bernhard Gunter has ever composed music based on long, deep silence.

Silence is the most important thing in music. Music is made of silences.

Silence id 50% of good music, the other half is ... well, non-silence. One can't exist without the other ... it all depends on the proper balance.
