VERY original solo...one of the few solos out there that I never get sick of hearing.

Yes - Sound Chaser (Steve Howe)
Arena - the Visitor (John Mitchell)
Deep Purple - Highway star from made in japan (Blackomore)
Pink Floyd - Pigs (Gilmour)
Roger Waters- What God Wants part 3 (Jeff beck)

I cannot recollect more interesting solos at the moment
Besides, guitar solo isn't the most important element of the song for me so perhaps that is the reason of my memory's malfunction:D
In my opinion Steve Howe is the best in the world but he does not play long melodic solos like Gilmour or Rothery
I think that Howe's guitarwork in numbers like  Future Times, Gates of delirium(especially soon), Siberian Khatru or on the Drama album is far more better than many classic-type guitar solos

History recalls how great the fall can be
While everybody is sleeping, the boats put out to sea
Borne on the wings of time
It seemed the answers were so easy to find..

Out of the ones listed: Comfortably Numb.

My favorite solo of all time: Time.

Both by David Gilmour.
