Yes not on any 20-slot favorite band list? Unthinkable!

I think that person meant: how is Yes not on everyone's top 20 list?
I use they/them pronouns (feel free to ask me about this!)

Well, I have Yes on my list, also there are others who have it. Am I non-person to you?

I don't have Yes because, to be honest, I am not super fond of the vocals (particularly the harmonies, which honestly I find StarCastle's mimicking of Yes to be even superior on a vocal level), and I feel they sacrifice musicality for showing off their virtuosity, which is somewhat my feeling with Gentle Giant as well, but their music is also rather appealing in a "what am I listening to" kind of way (definitely not the most accessible band in the world).

Take Pink Floyd for example. David Gilmour, in my opinion, is one of the most virtuosic guitarists to ever grace god's green Earth. BUT, he doesn't spend his time going insane and just speeding through a song with lots of fancy trills and arpeggios. No, he lets the sound of his guitar ring, and lets that instrument sing to us. He is a bloody amazing guitarist, but he reserves himself and doesn't spend his time going nuts. YES, on the other hand, does this frequently. And while I can appreciate it on a technical level, on when it comes to musicality I find that their antics detract from the music. HOWEVER, before people lose their minds, I am never going to ever say they are poor musicians or anything. Rick Wakeman is a god of the keyboards, Jon Anderson is one of my absolute favorite lead vocalists in history, and Steven Howe is just about unparalleled in the Prog world (the only guitarists I like better being David Gilmour and Robert Fripp). I just don't like it when they are together lol.

Rush... I just consider Rush the single largest curse to the prog rock world. A) I don't care for blues hard rock (their early stuff), B) their prog stuff I only find passable at best, and C) I hate every fiber of Progressive Metal, sorry but if I want to hear a band stroke their heavy metal egos, I've got Iron Maiden and Yngwie Malmsteen for that.

Yup that Malmsteen, whose uninteresting and at times outright idiotic discography past 1996 I still find to be superior to the entirety of Rush's catalog in one single fell swipe.

I disagree, but if you feel this way for Rush, then good for you

I was referring to the original list of the thread, Brainiac.

You were? Then writing legible sentences is also not one of your particular attributes. Your original sentence stated that "not on any 20-slot favorite band list". "Not on any" refers to multiple lists, not a single list, dolt.

^A little irritable, are you? Perhaps you need to relocate from that humid, stanky state you reside in to one that induces a calmer, clearer state of mind. And watch the name calling, Slappy.

That's the best you can do? You're the one who can't type out a legible sentence, then lie to try to cover your 5th grade writing skills, and now you bring states into this? Pathetic. You can keep Cali, I don't need to worry about wild fires, mud slides, smog, earthquakes, droughts and water shortages -- I have four seasons, thousands of miles of forest and the largest system of fresh water lakes in the world.

As far as name-calling, braniac, I believe you started that one. But what can one expect from a poster who allows his cat to type for him.
