Rainbow is so lonely there with no votes that I was tempted to vote for them... but in the end overall I like Zep better. Still, Rainbow deserve to be doing better than that.

It's between Primus, Bowie and the Talking Heads. Primus need their first vote so they get it.

Yes yes and yes. I'll add Lucio Battisti to the list (which again proves the artist name rule-of-thumb still reigns supreme) - as I adore everyone you've mentioned. Just listened to La Mort d'Orion here the other day and was quite simply swept away to a dreamy and otherworldly French delirium. |

Ah yes, I like Lucio Battisti too. La Mort d'Orion is a beautiful album -- glad you like it. |

Many good bands on that list but Zep came out before the others (except for Bowie) ,had pedigree ( Page was in the effing Yardbirds ), and their range of material and songwriting was amazing for basically a blues rock band. Bowie was certainly diverse over time and Queen could be diverse but there was something hidden in Zep's depths imo that cemented their place in rock history. Though to be honest none of the bands mentioned are all that proggy to me . Edited by dr wu23 - December 05 2016 at 14:37 |

Seriously....? Just about every Brit blues rock (and some US ones) borrowed heavily from early black blues men . Zep became huge so they were noticed for doing this. I do agree they should have given credit to those artists for several of the songs they reworked, but they didn't at the time.

^There seems to be two sides of the street on this one, Doc. Those that care about this plagiarism nonsense and on the other side, there's us.

This is kind on unfair. how can possibly someone choose only one band? In my opinion you should have given us the opportunity to vote for at least 3 bands from the list. That way it would be easier, funnier and fair enough.
I am not going to vote, because I simply can't choose only one band. But if I had multiple votes, I could vote for: Black Sabbath, David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, and Queen. |
