Well, yes, Zeps were better. They're my favorite non-prog pand, with Purple close seond. smoke on the water is good as a radio hit, but of course not their best. And I have the entire discography

Someone adding Deep Purple to progarchives is scary enough
But they added Deep Purple under CANTERBURY SCENE

abstaining for a bit, but no love for early Purples contribution to the fledging prog movement? Obviously they changed in hard rock/metal pick your poison, but is not the site, partially at least, supposed to educate? Playing Devil's advocate here, obviously popular opinion is against them.

no you didn't , and I have to say I didn't hear a bit of psychedelic on the album 'Concerto for Group and Orchestra' (1969) and they had some real progressive gems like the self titled album from 69 as well.
