Most of you are talking about prog albums, while this is a 'NON-prog music' thread.
But if I had to cite some good NON-prog recent (including the nineties) music :
Grzegorz Turnau : 'Pod swiatlo'
Zbigniew Preisner : 'Glosy'
Alain Souchon : 'la vie Théodore"
Noa : 'calling'
Manu Katché : 'Neighbourhood' (not released yet but Manu can't disappoint if he turns jazz)
Kate Bush : 'Aeria' (not published yet but if this took 12 years for preparing, it has to be good)
Janusz Radek : 'Serwus Madonna'

And Youssou N'Dour's most recent album 'Nothing's in vain' is pretty good too (it feartures once again the great Manu Katché on drums)

Youy KNOW it homey! The new KB is going to be awesome!!!
Some other new stuff out recently which I think is pretty good:
MIA- Arular
New Pornographers- Twin Cinema
AND although the music isn't new, its still worth noting that Westbound
records in the UK has remastered and repackaged the early FUNKADELIC
output this year. I just got the remastered version of Maggot
Brain (w/3 bonus tracks!) and it totally kicks ass.

Most of the newer music I like isn't prog, but there's some newer prog I like:
System of a Down (at least their newest album) The Killers The White Stripes (Jack White is an amazing guitarist, but Meg White is a terrible drummer, all she does is keep the beat) Mr Bungle The Mars Volta Wilco Dream Theater

The Arcade Fire--they've received non-stop hype but they deserve every
second of it. Their album "Funeral" is the kind that just get's better
with each listening. Their arrangements are very sophisticated and
multi-layered, and even their lyrics are good. Listen to the album,
then listen to it again. You will love it by the third listen.
Other good recent albums--Black Mountain. Another Canadian band--they
are Black Sabbath channeled by stoner indie kids. LCD Soundsystem--it
begins like crazy dance party music, but the album quickly becomes a
lot more. By the end of the album it sounds very Eno-esque.
There's always good music out there. It can be frustatingly hard to find, though.

I love Volta, Tool, Porcupine Tree, Opeth, DT, etc... There's still some hope out there for prog.

Many great things...The last Manic Street Preachers and Coldplay albums...A project called Shpongle with the album 'Nothing lasts but nothing is lost',and Deadwing from Porcupine Tree is great too...And i don't think that there's somebody here that didn't enjoy the last System of a down record...

Logos, check this out if you have time! You might like their music, as I know you like extreme metal! It's slow, mushroom influenced music from the dying cabin of Aleksi Kivi.

I posted this in the non-prog forum a few days ago, but since the topic was raised here...
My Morning Jacket's new album, Z, is the best new non-prog disc that I've heard in couple of years. It's extrememly creative... similarities range from Flaming Lips and Grandaddy to Neil Young and The Band. And it rocks.

Some new albums that I enjoy are...the new opeth, arcturus, sigh, and porcupine tree. I am looking forward to hearing Stolt's new album as well as Riverside.
