that album gets bash WAY too much. and it deserves non of it. sure, it is nowhere near like other Floyd in style, but when you think of what waters was trying to do and the emothional background and the lyrics, the album is no less than 4 stars. think of it as a waters solo album.

Is Seamus the song with the barking dog on blues?
There goes my vote.
dog (the blues instrumentation isn't that bad)
Meddle is the album that usually gets praised for having the best song, and criticized for having the worst song of the band ... at least by me.

i dislike all 12 bar blues songs (they seem disingenuous (sp?)
seamus isn't the worst, IMO. at least they did something to try and spice it up a little.

actually, "the grand visier's garden party" isn't really a song, so i'll bash "Not Now John" instead. i love the Final Cut, but this song:

The worst song from Pink Floyd is "Take it back". Here's in Québec, Canada we have a radio network called "rock détente". That mean "relax rock". The people who listen to these radio stations are mostly womens who are 40 years old and + working in offices. The slogan from the radio station is "My radio at work" and "TAKE IT BACK" play on that radio network. So, it mean everything ....

i agree, most of a momentary lapse of reason is the worst of floyd.
A rather bad smudge on such an amazing career

The beginning of the song is beautiful though...
I can understand that people don't like this song and mark it as Pink Floyd's worst. The only thing that makes this song interesting is that it is such a strange and maybe even a little bit creepy song. Just like the Beatles did with Revolution 9, you could say it's the worst Beatles song.

I would nominate anything from the studio side of 'Ummagumma' bar the wonderful 'Grantchester Meadows'; the rest of it is pure self indulgent experimental claptrap, imo.
Also, 'Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast'- which is the only weak link on 'Atom Heart Mother' to these ears. I really like 'If'!
'Seamus' defines the word 'filler'...
I wouldn't nominate anything from 'Momentary Lapse Of Reason'- it's hardly great, but it's not terrible; just ordinary...
'The Final Cut' is hardly a bad album either- it's a moving album and although Waters domineers it, there's some wonderful songs on it- sure, it's not my fave album (nor is 'The Wall') ever, but it's still a damn good one.

Hate this one too! "Obscured by Clouds" is one of my favourite FLoyd albums, but this song is totally crap!!
|
I agree, OBC is a great album, but this is a weak song. I don't really hate it, in fact I don't think that I hate any Floyd song. The chanting at the end can be annoying, just like the chanting at the end of the song "Fearless" on the Meddle album. I don't understand all the Final Cut bashing, I actually like that one a lot.

I love 'Obscured By Clouds'- it's one of my fave Floyd albums, with some beautiful songs in 'Stay', 'Wots Uh The Deal', 'Burning Bridges' and 'Mudmen'.

Another vote for Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast.
Also, while it's not the worst, I hate Money! That's one thing that destroys DSotM... though most of it's pretty good...
Seamus kicks butt.

I hate almost everything from More and A Momentary Lapse of Reason. There are a few good songs there (Cymbaline, Up the Khyber, and Sorrow among others).

Every one is naming the worst song of Pink Floyd but I think that "bring the boys back home" which is of The Wall is the worst track by pink floyd since it is not really a song

The final cut is an album of pieces deemed not good enough for the wall, Dave Gilmour in an interview, stated that if it was not good enough for the Wall then it shouldn't have been good enough for a release. This is, probably, around the time Waters and Gilmour were falling out of love, but it is true about the final cut, it's a half arsed attempt to get more money out the fans.

I'll throw another vote out for "Take It Back". Gawd, I hated that song when the album came out, and was always puzzled that it was picked to be the "hit" of the album, when everything thing else on Division Bell was so much better. Is it just me, or does Dave sing terribly off-key in this song, especially the chorus?
