Bourbon (JD for me).. will kill anything it touches.. and tastier that Draino....the key to surviving Corno-19(20)

I wouldn't touch Bourbon with a ten-foot pole. I gave it several tries, but it never convinced me. Whisky has to be made from malted barley, not corn. It has to be Scotch or Irish for me.

JD is not Bourbon... and not convincing. Some Bourbon is excellent (the Four Roses Single Barrel tastes like some sort of cranked up Metaxa and I love it). Whisky (not whiskey unless it is Irish) should be made from malted barley indeed. Never tasted that 21yo Springbank (the 10yo is top 3 for me), but I am happy to have some Lagavulin in store to help me through these days .

21 years old Springbank was voted to be the third best whisky in the world by whisky experts. I don't know which ones are number one and two. I bought a bottle of it from the first money I earned in 1987. The price was DM 78 back then. These days the bottle is around € 300. It is by far the best whisky I ever tasted.

I spent yesterday listening to music I haven't visited in years, along with some Jameson's! it was nice to get away form the C-19 noise for a day. Smile

Back to reality. My cousin's son is believed to have it. He is 6 and has asthma too so it's tricky. Will know after the tests.

That is rough and not something I think anyone can prepare for.
At least though they aren’t stranded on some cruise ship in the mediterrenean.
Here’s hoping for a quick recovery
All the best from Denmark my dear Cosmic lawnmower

Big thanks to everyone who sent kind messages after I wrote that my daughter and grandson had contracted the virus; both are fine, no hospital treatment needed just isolation and convalescence at home... the young'un had a worryingly high temperature but has recovered quickly and both have had, we are told, relatively mild symptoms overall.

Thanks again kind people, you made an over-anxious old bloke feel much better  xxxx

My pleasure - we’re all about the love round these parts
I am thrilled to hear that all three of them are doing better and only experiencing mild symptoms
I thought a lot about you guys yesterday.

Poor lad, do hope he's ok. The asthma is a worry but kids seem to bounce back the quickest- my grandson who's nearly 7 had about 48 hours of high temperature and then seemed to recover pretty fast but does have an irritating dry cough.

So in the UK we're allowed to go out walking if we keep 2 metres apart, so about 10 million people decided it would be a good idea to do this up Snowdon yesterday and so the area was packed. A group of people drove up there from Surrey and had to be rescued by a mountain rescue team.
The same thing happened at some seaside resorts. I mean, what the hell is wrong with these people? We're going to have to go into total lockdown to control it now.

There is something uniquely stupid and selfish about the British IMO. Either that or they have basic problems with comprehension. To be be fair our education system is way behind that of most of Europe.

Schools here in Denmark are now closed up until after Easter.
Feels very weird from my point of view - mostly because it means an extended “vacation”...with the odd day of work here and there.
My guess is that the kids will react strongly to this change ie almost no people in school and often not the ones they’re used to.
Sure to the uninitiated that seems like a small price to pay in order to get everything back on track, and I happen to agree...but to autists where even the smallest change can end up in them trying to tear out their eyes...well these times quickly become something of ‘a hell-like’ ordeal they have to live through.
I will need to dig out the Kim Larsen albums that’s for damn sure. He is basically reassurance by way of sound..to all and every Dane out there

Wishing him all the best, and the best should be that he didn't catch the virus at all. Embarrassed

Thanks all! The doctor said that the kid just has a bad respiratory infection. There' s no fever so he thinks he'll be ok with antibiotics and rest. Whew! This sh** is just too much!

We didn’t have the same numbers in South Wales, but still packed in Llansteffan beach a little way from us, and Barry Island was like a madhouse.

In the meantime, huge controversy over rich personages leaving the city to come to their second homes here. The welcome has not been entirely resounding.

Incredible, really.

The Numbers are rising slower now in Italy, and today the number of peop recovering in hospital in Lombardy was 173 lower - a bit of breathing space for the people working there.

Llansteffan is lovely! used to meet friends from Carmarthen there when we lived near Gloucester!

My family farms on Exmoor and this weekend the place was packed with Grocks, many in camper vans or just wandering about bemoaning the fact that there was nowhere to stay.. Just crazy, we don't have the NHS capacity in Devon and Cornwall to look after the locals let alone half of London and the home counties turning up!

My employer and all the family plus hangers on have all appeared from London and are moping about looking lost...
