Micky and Terri for President!! I'll line them up.. and she'll shoot them down.. then later that evening it would be an open bar with no closing time at the White House. All we would ask is that you bring your own smokes, babes and motorcycles to ride up the central staircase.. Edited by micky - May 08 2016 at 11:28 |

"Voting is a political strategy. It’s civic participation. It’s about citizenship, not individualism. Participate or don’t, but don’t tell us sitting on the sidelines makes you a better person. Don’t tell us how serious you are, how rational, how moral, by your choosing 'none of the above.'" |

I don't remember saying I am a better person for not voting. Who are you to judge in the first place? Are you better than me because you vote? I think you and a handful of others will blab on about this. Nice start to the week.

Not voting is just as much of a right as voting.
I've known people who did not vote because they did not like either candidate. They did not feel like voting for the lesser of two evils. As far as people complaining even though they did not vote, that is their right as well. Freedom of speech is not based on doing or not doing something.

More I think about this...I just don't know.
We all know Trump has been a long time friend to the Clinton's and has donated tons to them. While Trump has painted himself in question marks one thing we know for sure, he hates spending money, and he always wants something for it.... Add to that the Clinton's famously pay off their donors, I don't know this whole Trump/Clinton thing feels weirder and weirder. Like, we already are hearing how ugly and nasty this election will be. I can see them flinging mud and fists, then behind stage share a laugh and shake hands. Maybe the convo goes like this: "Oh Donny boy, remember when we encouraged you to run so you can cause some havoc and knock out Jeb and Marco and Christie?" "Yeah Hill, whoever imagined I'd make it this far! Crazy idiots eh?" "For sure" "Hey, imagine if somehow I won this election" "Well, not like it would matter anyway would it?" *shares a chuckle, puts on Goldman Sachs jackets*

Well, I will be fair to Trump in one regard, he is also giving a voice to the working class. Those that lean conservative rather than liberal, and certainly he's exploited some very disturbing things in many Americans, but he is giving a conservative voice to the working class, which is something the right abandoned in 1981.
He's proven that someone running as a Republican can say "I am not going to touch the social safety net" and do very well. Someone can even basically ignore, or least greatly downplay, the religious stuff and free market fundamentalism (it's own religion) and again do very well. Now, he's a panderer and phony, he can't be believed on anything, but he's tapping a real sentiment. For years the GOP has won over the white working class vote by well....casual racism, social conservatism, "tough guy" policies but now Trump is using an economic angle. Much like how Sanders is a return to roots for the Democratic Party which has lost it's own way since the 90s and has won over white working class voters himself. I really do believe 2016 is proof the Reagan Revolution is coming to an end, from both left and right, with a re focus on the "core" of America Edited by JJLehto - May 11 2016 at 01:34 |

^The sad thing is, I believe, that said working class whose grievances are (unbelievably) voiced by billionaire Trump, needed something more than economical reasons to jump en masse for a specific candidate. Race, racism, and similar sentiments served as catalysts to actually create this "phenomenon". In the end, more than their difficult situation in life, I think race managed to put them all together.

interesting chart I saw today.
Along with middle class disappearing .. so apparently are the political moderates. Makes sense.. some have recognized we are and have been in the midst of a culture war of differing at times polar opposite views of what this country is and should stand for. It seems the middle ground has become a harder place to stand. I do think Clinton may be the last gasp of the moderate Democratic party. Perhaps as much as Bush classic was many years ago for the GOP. Much like the right has been handcuffed by.. candidates will need to be further out on the fringes to appeal to the bases which are moving away from the center. See Sanders and his many many suppporters. See the thought process of Cruz and those on the far right that think their current losing streak is because they are nominated moderates when the party has shifted well the right. That appears to be coming into play on the Democratic side Edited by micky - May 11 2016 at 16:48 |

There is a formula somewhere in the universe that says that the more a person flaunts their "Christianity", the less "Christian"-like they're actually going to act.

Nice... I'll have to add that to my playbook.. on my next service call the next that has a vehicle I see with a Trump sticker in the drive way. Though the next will be the first.. god I love living in deeply blue areas... I'll knock on the door.. say hello... and then goodbye...and tell him I refuse to do work for him since they are propagating division hatred, bigotry, and all around stupidity... |

* sigh * what could have been
It could still make for an interesting election if Bernie convinced Elizabeth Warren to split the ticket and tests the waters to see how many populist votes they can poach from both Hillary and Drumpf. |
