Two albums I recommend:

This includes the aforementioned Electric Church Red House and even an awesome acoustic guitar version of Hear My Train A Comin'.

I thought that "Blues" was just yet another compilation with his "hits". And i've never seen the second one.
I will get my hands on:
  • Are you Experienced?
  • Electric Ladyland (only have it as .mp3 Embarrassed)
  • Band of Gypsys
  • First Rays of the New Rising Sun
  • Alot of live recordings
Shame i havn't gotten his albums yet, since i've been a fan for like 4-5 years!

Also, the best Hendrix I've ever heard is his live impromptu performances at the Café Au Go-Go with the likes of B.B. King, Elvin Bishop, Al Kooper and Paul Butterfield.

Mmmm.

When he wasn't doing his silly pyromania, he was amazing.

He could have easily performed in a fusion band.  Seriously.  I realise he was self-taught and unorthodox but he actually could play in a sensitive way too.  He wasn't always over-the-top.

Then you don't care for one of the best and most innovative guitarrists ever. Shame.

Yeah like I haven't had people saying that to me for two decades. I also don't care for one second about Black Sabbath. Smile

I gave Are You Experienced? a chance a while ago but I had to put it away after the first song. I couldn't take that sound and mixing at that time. The songs are pretty good, but I've got to be in a certain mood to tolerate the production.

Black Sabbath's early material was pretty damned good actually.  Ozzy's voice was amazing too.

I'm no so keen on the Dio era though.

It's just my (our) taste, you yourself don't have to take it personal. Wink

Electric Ladyland is the best (and I realise that sounds fanboyish or a typical response but it is actually the best album).  It also has some lovely proggy moments at times.

I love Little Wing though (and I know it's not on that album).  So emotional!

Stevie Ray Vaughn does a really nice rendition of Little Wing too.

I like it but I also don't like it.

There's a much better instrumental version with Paul Butterfield on harmonica around.  True, it barely sounds like Little Wing but it's amazing nevertheless.
