I don't review post rock because I don't like it - I don't get it bashing an album that you 'don't get' doesn't do anyone any good.

Unless it's Kayo Dot

Oh, okay.

I never review something unless I feel like I know it well enough, and I don't know any Post Rock album well enough yet.

I have that one Sigur Ros album that I could review, but I'd be giving it a 2 and the ratings for it are over 4, so clearly I don't know what I'm talking about for Post Rock. Why bother?

It all depends on whether you feel comfortable reviewing it or not, not what the overall rating is.

Just because the general consensus loves something and you've honestly TRIED to see artistic value in it to your highest attempt and still don't get it, I think the view is just as valid.

The only matter there that later evolves is the one of honest open-mindedness and closed-minded bashing.

Okay... I'm looking up Kayo Dot on myspace. Sure, the vocals are annoying, but where does all that hate come from?

Yes, but then I have to listen to it again, and I can never get through that album without falling asleep.

For the slightly younger ones who are single anyway, not those older Shed-types who have pictures of their married ones in their photos as well.

Well, you'd hope so. Tongue

Oh I don't hate them that much - it's mostly me joking around like a f**kwad. I just didn't like the album and I don't see why they're praised so highly. Its their fanboys that hold them on a pedistal and bash the bands that I like which annoy me Wink

They're not a lot of people's type because of their sparseness and general lack of melody, but i like it
