It's pretty sweet and nutty as it's an almond liquor, not too alcoholic so there's not much of a bite. I like having it on the rocks, there are some mixed drinks that use it but I've never had any of those. |

Sounds like an alright drink.
I guess I'll have to try it out one day, if I remember too.
I haven't had much in the way of the less usual alcoholic beverages.

The more articles I read on America, the more it sounds like it will become the biggest failed experiment in the history of mankind.

I'm listening to K.A. now and I'm not sure how it's a "revolutionary" album.

You sound like you live here. ![]() I'm not sure what failure means, either. Britain was once a world superpower, and it's not like the country ceased to exist. |

I've only heard K.A. the once. Great album but yes, I agree. Not "revolutionary". I'm glad you agree with my thoughts in that thread, Patrick. I wasn't expecting quite so much flak... so it's nice to get back up! |

Nope, not drinking. I wish I was someone else... somewhere else... and with different friends. Or perhaps being marooned on an island with just a copy of Groovy Kind of Love would be more nightmarish for me. ![]() |

I think people don't actually read posts and they'd rather just "attahk" ![]() Yes, I am enjoying the hell out of K.A., it's awesome, but....it's classic Magma. I agree with Sean Trane's review on it, you could tell someone this was recorded 30 years ago and it would be plausible. |

* shrug * I think Bush was as bad as it gets, but I'm doing better than I was 8 years ago. We haven't hit the true crisis points yet. |

To be fair, I did not elucidate as well as I could have.
Zeuhl is Zeuhl. Do too much stuff to it and it becomes something else. Would it be Zeuhl if they added rap, hip hop, r 'n' b or drum 'n' bass elements? No. Would it be more original? Maybe. Zeuhl, to me, has to have certain elements to make it Zeuhl. Magma have still managed to use brass, saxophone, violin, piano, guitars and keyboards with success. They could try some other instruments, I guess. But they cannot just put in some weird Henry Cow style weirdness... it wouldn't be Zeuhl then. So I wasn't suggesting Zeuhl was stale... I was saying that it's defined by certain criteria and you know what you're going to get when you hear it. So to get something more innovative and unique in Zeuhl, is less likely. Oh I see, Patrick.
I'm not really in the mood for much right now... 1. I feel light-headed due to chocolate 2. I'm miserable due other goings on 3. there is no three I do need to listen to more Ne Zhdali though. Patrick needs to hear Speed Limit. Their first album is jazz rock fusion but their second album is more Zeuhl fusion. Both are excellent. Plus I'm a Yochk'o Seffer fanboy. Patrick, I have a favour to ask you... but it's a big ask... If I send you Yochk'o Seffer's Neffesh Music - Ima would you be so kind as to download Yochk'o Seffer's Neffesh Music - Ghilgoul from eMusic in exchange? Ima is excellent and I want to hear the other two albums... only Ghilgoul is on eMusic though. I cannot find the first one called Délire. You're welcome to say no. Oh and I can always send you the difference over PayPal, if you want me to pay for it. Edited by James - September 13 2008 at 22:38 |

Well I guess, there is sometimes only so much you can do with a genre really.
I remember once reading an article on death metal, and some dude saying "I think it's gone as far as it can go really" and stating how for the last 10 or so years, a lot of the stuff that has come out is mostly just retro i.e basically the 80s death metal again.
Another guy said "I think there is unlimited potential in death metal. As in any forms of music, it is really only limited by the imagination of the artist.
I think there are very imaginative musicans in death metal, and they will continue to expand our music, while simultaneously keeping within the aforementioned boundaries.
That's not the paradox it might sound. The guidelines of making music sound dark, fast and aggressive while emplying guttural vocals and writing dark lyrics still leaves enormous room for experimentation.
If someone ever says that death metal is a 'limited' form of music, I'd have to question that persons imagination".
Well, I can see both of this.
Like many genres, you know, be it heavy metal, jazz fusion or whatever, people will be churning out the retro stuff.
There is still guys innovating in the death metal scene, but far and few in between really. People got lazy and churned out the retro, while the guys that seriously worked at it made something innovative and fresh.
I guess people can debate if they can be bothered.
