Self-titled release from Texas-based symph-prog band Hands startled me with how awesome it was. Definitely recommend it to everybody here. Utopianisti are an excellent jazz-rock/avant-prog band, I recommend their album The Third Frontier. Sergey Kuryokhin's Sparrow Oratorium album is a fascinating album with modern classical and oratorio influences, but also has a razor-sharp pop sensibility.

I'm wondering the same. No other forum I've ever seen even comes to close to this one.

progressiveears has a decent forum and can be a source of new music (check out the new releases pinned thread and svetonio's recommendations thread). Another great source of new prog releases is http://newprogreleases.blogspot.com

I'm actually on PE (under a different user name). I don't pay much attention to Sventonio's posts. He just posts stuff from bandcamp and most of those don't even have an official cd release. I'll look into the other one. Proggnosis is another one. Some of these sites make it difficult to find stuff on them though. Does anyone know of any for just prog reviews(not prog metal just regular prog)?

I have found a couple of gems from Sventonio's posts that I would not have found otherwise. The newprogreleases blog is the best source of new prog that I know about.

deadnob suggested this site: http://newprogreleases.blogspot.com.au I've used it quite a bit. The great thing about it, is that you can search by prog subgenres, and its listed by release date. I've gotten a lot of mileage out of it.

Look up a youtube poster "Prog Line". He/she posts stuff from the 70's that is at the more obscure end of PA. Even stuff that doesn't exist on PA that has been out of print long enough it would maybe have never again seen the light of day.

OK time to post some more discoveries From US band Meridian Incident, their new album Istology, moody modern prog (just how I like it). In a similar vein, Lo Moon Loveless, reminds me of another artist that was recommended in an earlier post in this thread, T. One of the best prog/post rock instrumental releases I have heard for a while, Chalice Hymnal by the Grails. If you like this also check out the song from a previous album Deep Politics Let me know if you like these tracks, and do share some of your recent discoveries! |

Offworld: Some Circles Are Square (Belgium-2016). Psychedelic space-rock/metal. It often sounds like a metal version of Quantum Fantay. (17/20) http://freiamusic.co.uk/album/some-circles-are-square https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jbk8JjXwY4o |

Really enjoying this album, the lyrics are a little cheezy but the guitar work & melodies are top notch. Thanks again PhideauxFan (another example that shows we have similar musical tastes!). Actually if you have your playlists online (eg. Spotify) I would like to check them out.

Haven't heard much about prog bands from India. Here is some catchy neo metal prog from the southern city of Chennai (Madras) What do you think?
