Hey Jim/Aep! Have a good New Year yourself!

Heh, you'd never guess what album I'm opening the new year with...

Biglietto per I'Infernio

(was determined for it to be a good one!)

Here's two rather nice songs from 70's RPI band I Maya, hope you enjoy:

`Solomon' - nice heartfelt lead vocal, pleasant mix of male/female vocals in the chorus, lovely melodic guitar throughout and warped keybaords in the second half too.

`Yucatan' is essentially an organ driven instrumental, very groovy sounds. Little bit of a Santana band sound in the guitar playing?

Promising band, anyone know what became of them or the players?

George Berardi (vocals, bass)
Giancarlo Paolini (guitar, vocals)
Gianni Maggi (keyboards)
Roberto Robotti (drums)
Ramasandiran Somusundaram (percussion)

Pretty sure I made a typo, too, Pierre, watching the clip it was `SolAmon'! Couldn't be bothered fixing it!

But both tracks have made it onto my two lists, Pierre - One for the vocal stuff, the other for the instrumental stuff - Well, `Yucatan' is essentially instrumental, except for that occasional repeated title...OK, I'm cheating a little!

Michael, It's going to be a great compilation. Smile
Thanks Andrea Clap Awesome interview ! First time I read something about RPI in my own language. I am pleasantly surprised by the poetry of the lyrics, simple and deep with many interpretations. Thank you again.

I read some reviews that mention the sound quality issue, which will not prevent me from getting it, but I have seen on Amazon and iTunes a 2012 Remastered edition of this album, but I did not see any CD availability on it.  This 2012 version has an extended version of L'amico suicida added.
Sometimes remasters are not done that well depending on who and how they do it, anybody heard anything on the remaster?

I have 2 version's of the Biglietto debut on CD. The first is the BTF (Tri 1005) version. This one (unless they've re-released again but i suspect not as it has same catalogue no) doesn't have the extra minute of L'amico Suicida that was on a Japanese release that claimed to be a remaster around 3 year's ago.. Despite the complete L'Amico this to my ear's is inferior as the sound quality despite the remaster claim sounds like it was taken direct from an LP (you can hear vinyl hiss and a few clicks if i remember correctly). Todd also has it I believe and  i remember discussing it with him and we were both dissapointed.

Another difference is the BTF is a gatefold sleeve and the Japanese isn't.

Happy New Year All!!!

Update- just seen Todd's post on the 27th which pretty much confirm's what i said.

Sensitiva Immagine was an Italian group that released one album in the late seventies. The group consisted of Alfredo Olivieri (vocals), Massimo Buriani (guitars), Stefano Bertonazzi (keyboards), Andrea Pavinato (bass) and Franco Buriani (drums). The music is somewhat reminiscent of the other Italian symphonic groups like Locanda Delle Fate and later group Nuova Era but with some foreign influence as well.

A very interesting new addition for fans of Battiato.
