Excellent. Perhaps Top Gear could do a V8 version.

I think that Jared meant that camping was for Pendie artistic types.  Or in my case since I don't have Pure yet, that would make me a Pendieless artistic type.

Camping as a summer activity I assume. You definitely won't want to be in a tent tonight. Gusty winds and rain at the moment.

Ahh the memories of camping in the UK. The South West was the best, Scotland would be OK but the midgies have a black belt in inflicting pain, not to mention all the scratching. The Southeast was OK, if a little on the crowded side.

Mind you though this was no backpackers camping. Lilos, quilts, gas stove and I seem to remember on one holiday to the SW, a black and white TV running off the car battery to watch the world cup.

In 1998 we went camping in Sweden, just north of Stockholm in the week before the midsummernight (June 21st) . It was +2 Celcius during the night there at the time, and we had to cook in sheds (!!!) at the camp site because in the windy cold it was impossible to prepare food and light a fire up an oil or gas cooker.
In 2007, we spent a week in Annessy (F), where it rained almost non stop. The dry half hours were used to organise races: who could get to the wheelbarrows first to put a new layer of gravel before their tent...

Yeah, it's a summer time thingy.

Last time I went camping was down in Devon - we arrived with the tent and gear we normally use at festivals such as Glastonbury & Lattitude to find everyone else had huge tents with mains electricity, fridges and tv's. It was more like living on a housing estate than camping. Thanks, but no thanks - I'll stick to hotels for that kind of holiday and continue to use the tent only for festivals.
What?

A friend and I camped one night north of Inverness.  It was -10C overnight but we had a good night's sleep in comfort (did have an air bed and a duvet on top of my sleeping bag.  Only problem was that our breath overnight had turned the tent sheet in to a quarter inch thick sheet of ice.  Had to scrap the tent in the end as we couldn't pack it away and the temperature didn't go above freezing all morning so it didn't thaw out.

Last ime I went camping was at Summers End last September. A bit cold at night but other than that we had fine weather for the weekend (an unheard of occurance at Summers End). Mind you, I did spend most of the days in Lydny Town Hall watching the likes of Threshold, IQ, Quidam, The Tangent, etc.
Spending more than I should on Prog since 2005

Of course. Well it was a Chevette after all. Smile

And if it hadn't have done, Chevettes are the easiest of motors to bump start. So no worries.

Picture the scene. A two man ridge tent; front open; TV at the back in the shade with me sat on a small folding seat by the front peeling spuds and watching the world cup in glorious Devon evening weather. Delightful. LOL
