^Well, NY is becoming the Police State Capital of America. But what's really terrifying is how many people support the cameras and surveillance methods.

^^^ People will accept anything in the name of security, especially if such measures are introduced gradually, over years. The notion of a police state in the US, or Europe is still laughable to most people. If things are moving in that direction, by the time it's implemented fully, it'll be too late to wake up to it.

The tenth anniversary of 9/11 was always going to be a significant date in the terrorists calendar, and it would probably be foolish to think that there would be no plots hatched for the event. But, flooding the streets of Manhattan with police cars is more a show of strength for the publics benefit, rather than an effective deterrent to an attack. The cynic in me thinks it's more to do with getting the public used to sight of a heavy police presence on the streets.

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

^^^ Not much you can say about that really. We know already that the IPCC have exagerated findings and/or ommitted certain facts from their published reports, to bolster their claims. But that doesn't mean their claims are wrong. It merely means that in their haste to get their message across they made a bad call and decided to lie, knowing that any criticism of the IPCC is tantamount to holocaust denial thes days.

Even within a large scientific community where there appears to be a consensus on any issue, there will always be some disagreement, but the smaller the number of people dissagreeing with the majority, the less likely you are to hear their arguments. While it may be foolish to believe something solely because the majority of other people believe in it, there is a strong argument for taking prudent pre-cautionary measures to counter the worse case scenario. In any case, conservation of natural resources is simply common sense, global warming arguments aside. The idea of simply impoversihing people and businesss through carbon taxes is counter productive and immoral in my opinion.

"Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., today introduced a bill that, if passed by Congress and signed by the president, would insure Social Security's solvency for the next 75 years—without having to cut a single person's benefit. Sanders' solution is simple: gradually eliminate the cap on wages subject to the payroll tax, starting with people earning more than a quarter-million a year."

They say they want a flat tax, why not start here?

And? Doesn't he have a right to? Just as your countless leftist experts made rich because of the global warming rage?

But what you fail to see is that this is not even about whether global warming is real or not, man-made or not. Is about science. Science, true science, always leaves room for change, for new findings. Nothing is certain, nothing. That's the basis of the entire scientific method. But, suddenly, global warming is so certain that people of science who don't agree with it are denounced by other scientists. I wonder whose agenda are they pushing.

I still can't get past the German climate official who openly admitted that the issue itself no longer mattered (whether climate change is man made or not), what mattered is that the issue provided the means for massive wealth redistribution from rich countries to poor....and that that is what should be pursued despite where the facts of the issue lead.  He was saying, keep your eyes on the real prize...which ain't saving the environment for some of these folks.

(I'm not saying the issue is crap....just that the motives are not always pure, just like everything else.)

Now, something way cooler!  I'm a geek but I think these are fascinating...

What are you talking about?

Well Nobel Prize winning Physicists tend to know something about science, and the scientific method, and reading scientific data. A scientific magazine can't call global warming incontrovertible. That's just laughable.

Al Gore is a climate scientist. Is he suddenly an expert on climate science?

I did, but then I thought you just used extra-sarcastic double-entendre cryptic-meaning hidden message there... You know that headline actually can be adapted to that news story...

The world might actually be flat.  The sun might actually revolve around the flat earth.  The earth is only 6,000 years old.  Black might actually be white.  Up is probably really down.

Lol you're embarrassing yourself bro.

I forgot you were a climate expert by the way. Why does your opinion matter? You know when someone is a true believer when a statement like, "I'm not sure exactly what is occurring. More research must be done to answer the question." infuriates someone into essentially ad hominem attacks.

Yes, only climate experts should have an opinion on the matter and those receiving money from polluting industries should recuse themselves.

But anyway, did the gist of my news item just pass you buy?  I think it's good news when a big company decides to change course like that.

Good to know that you're content with people thinking for you. You don't need to be a climate expert to have basic reasoning skills.

No I didn't read the link you posted.
