A couple of great reviews on the front page today by Michael and David on two albums I have gotten recently but haven't spun yet. So yes it has me anxious to hear Rhun and McLuhan but I always save the best for last so I will wait.

I agree John, excellent reviews from both Mike and Dave, with two albums that I really love and I hope will get more attention.
And since Pierre mentioned Oktober's debut just the other day, I was really hooked on it, the whole thing is available on the tube so I already know the album by heart. I'm glad you reviewed the second album because I did notice it had no reviews yet, I listened to the only sample available (16 min.) and it was quite different from the debut material. your review did calrify some things though, it looks like the band was aiming at something different, more conceptual. I hope I can find any of their albums sometime soon. Great job man! Edited by Sagichim - November 23 2013 at 02:12 |

Thanks Sagi ! It wasn't easy finding info on these guys, it would be nice if they were re-issued one day. I'm glad their debut has you hooked.

Another one from Michael today on that Setna album I have yet to get to. Love his description of it.

Hi John, thanks for that, and for the comments you and Sagi made earlier as well! I've stalled on that Setna review for months, I even recall writing to Sean Trane (I think the only other review there of it) asking some questions about the vocals, many months ago!
It's a wonderful album, I was looking back and forth at the CD booklet reading all those descriptions of what each track was trying to convey, I thought those were cool details to include! ![]() Edited by Aussie-Byrd-Brother - November 24 2013 at 07:33 |

Sorry i totally missed this, but thanks you guys. I've been digging reading yours as well
![]() Also just caught Steve-o's Hubardo review. What a beauty big man! I think it's very well written and I applaud you for coming clean about not fully understanding it. I did something similar when I tried reviewing Igor Wakhevitch's Logos. You did it so much better than me though, and it felt like I had just listened to the album after reading it.

Two very good reviews on the front page! First of all Dennis (The Crimson King) with his outstanding review to KC's box set, very informative and easy to read, keep up the good work man!
![]() I would really love to own this baby since I have a few live albums. Second review for Apostolis (Psarros). Very good review for Mahjun! ![]() I have all their albums and I must ask if you have any others? |

Yes, thank you Dennis for that comprehensive review of Road to Red!
I'm nowhere near fanatical enough to buy it, but now that I've read your review, I at least know what I'm missing. ![]() |

Thanks Sagi & HolyMoly for your kind words! The Road to Red was the first review I've ever written. When I was working on it I kept thinking of this quote from my fave Bevis Frond song...

Thanks for your kind words Sagi!! ![]() Unfortunately I have not been able to dig further into their sound, although I know they changed their name after the 1st album - possibly along with a slight change of style??? -...Anyway, this was a great band back at the time and their name is definitely among the ones who deserve some further research.

Brilliant review today by The Mystical for Pawn Hearts:
http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=1086559. I'm not much of a "lyrics" guy (generally can't understand what people are singing!), but I was quite intrigued by his interpretation of them.

I enjoyed Micheal's review of COS just now. I couldn't agree with you more either about Son reminding you of Platon on ZAO's first one, with those wordless Vocal melodies. I know they were very familiar with Zao and if I remember correctly I think COS' first one reminds me more of Zao's debut than Viva Boma does.

Thank you, John! I laughed in your review of it when you mentioned Paatos briefly as well, I thought I was crazy when I thought that originally!
![]() Just wanted to draw attention to Tszirmay's current Flamborough Head review: http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=1090571 It's probably the neo prog album of the year, and he sure has written better about it than I ever could! ![]() Edited by Aussie-Byrd-Brother - December 15 2013 at 15:34 |

Yes, I'm seriously considering putting it in my final top 2013! But this year has been so good, so not sure if it might make the cut or just be edged out!
Thanks for giving it some much deserved love! ![]() |

I am not sure whether many realize the absolute quality of 2013 releases! I have stated before (in June I believe) that 2013 may end up being one of the best years EVER! My list is ridiculous and rivals both 1973 and 1974 which were the unshakable years for prog .

Fantastic, long review by Michael aka Aussie-Byrd-Brother on Taliesyn...At the moment I added the band, he came up with a detailed description of an unknown, under-the-radar album, making me dig into the group a bit further...Absolutely on spot, not to mention I love when a guy around here spends some precious time around an album that has unfairly faded in time.Congrats!

![]() Very nice write up Kangaroo. I enjoyed that one. Another one I really found interesting was Thanos' recent Riverside review. A very nice and friendly way of using the two star rating, and written in a manner that comes across very politely yet is rather poignant and sharp at the same time. I also happen to agree with him in his verdict
