I've got no problem placing it in my Top 2 PT albums. Though I've only heard about half of their output.

^^

I can't imagine how much whoever profits from World Of Warcraft makes per month... Seriously crazy. They've got like 12 million players, who all pay 14.95 USD a month.

Thats 179400000 USD a month. I don't even know how to say that number in words

That's 179 million, four hundred thousand.  Not that hard.  Wink

I don't make quite that much on album sales.  Embarrassed

I suspect I will be changing my four star rating of Fear of a Blank Planet to five.

Really?!

I'd rank it as the band's all-time low... 3 stars for me right now.

I would have given it a three based on my first impression when it first came out (it was my first album by that band).  I couldn't see what all the fuss was about.

After further listening, I found myself genuinely enjoying it and really appreciating the concept, as it were (being able to relate to it as a teacher and all).

I still had problems with "Sleep Together" and "Way Out of Here," which I still consider to be the weakest two songs on the album, but now I'm beginning to get into those more also.

All said, Deadwing is still my favorite by a mile.

^^Deadwing is much better than FOABP IMO, although it still seems lacking to me. I can't pick anything I don't like about it, although it doesn't blow me away like alot of the band's other work.

Way Out of Here is irritating vocally.  So much so, it annoys me!

Deadwing is the weakest I've heard but admittedly, I have only heard Deading, FoaBP and their live album Coma Divine.

The outro (the vocal overlays) in Mellotron Scratch are genius, and its a great track overall... I feel the title-track is insanely under-appreciated, and I'd go as far as to say its better than Arriving Somewhere But Not Here.

FOABP is a fantastic album I think, though I a also think Sleep Together is weak compared to the other songs on there. I do really like Way Out Of Here though. The concept is very interesting too, I agree with you, and for me as a kid it probably is just as interesting as for you being a teacher.

"X-box is a god to me
A finger on the switch
My mother is a bitch
My father gave up ever trying to talk to me"

That line says is incredibly true. As I kid I gamed quite a lot, and this really was the way I started to think of my parents, and my father did almost gave up trying to talk to me. Then my xbox broke and I somehow didn't feel the need to get a new one (instead of that I got myself a guitar)... now the relationship between me and my parents is as good as it could be. But really, when I look back I see how much I was "addicted" to such a stupid gaming device... the thing sort of absorbed me (which sounds pretty creepy, doesn't it?).

I know what you mean.

My sister-in-law was over here one day while I had that song playing...when that line came along, she told me she was offended and that I needed to turn it off because "he called his mother a B!"

I complied, but was completely disappointed, as I always am, when people fail to keep things in context.
