I'm surprised SEBTP won. I think its a great album (4 stars), but not a masterpiece. I would have preferred Foxtrot or The Lamb at the top, at least when it comes to Genesis. Close to the Edge should have come in AT LEAST top 3, and Relayer is definitely top 10. |
All subjective opinion and in the eyes of the beholder. SEBTP is a flawless masterpiece in my opinion. Lamb is overwritten with some really obscure lyrics. Tony Banks is in top form but can anyone tell me where is Steve Hackett apart from one song on the first side? I can only conclude that Hackett lost interest in the concept of the album and stopped contributing at some point. |
Which one SEBTP or TLLDOB? Personally, I think Steve is more present on Selling England. You have dancing and ofcourse firth of fifth. On lamb he's heard on "counting out time" and elsewhere too but that one stands out. Steve's presence is felt more on the first two post Gabriel albums.

Don't remember if I voted in this or not but I don't care for the results. Tis all in good fun, though, I suppose.

Does anyone have the link for the PA top prog album list? It goes from 1966 to 2010 or so.

Hackett stands out clearly on much of Selling' and Lamb'. As for 'Wuthering, history has shown that Tony Banks was in firm control at that point and hell-bent to take the lion's share of the writing credits which led to Hackett's departure. More of Hackett's 'Wuthering contributions can be heard a little louder on the 2006 remaster.
