From Ancient Times (2007)
An 18 pieces band, inspired to "The Silmarillion" of J.R.R.Tolkien...a very special and good project with lots of guest playng cello, violin, viola, horns, harp, flute.. and so ! Fantastic female voice !!
http://www.ainur.it/home_eng.htm (the band's official website).
Another interesting new italian band to investigate!!!
P.S. I still have to post the italian prog special on modern and contemporary bands...

RE Ainur: see my post in the dedicated thread in the Suggest New Bands section. I've seen the band live last year, and they did strike me as prog.

Found a review of this album - described as a 'rock opera' - while browsing on the excellent MovimentiProg website:
http://www.magnianimiviri.com/ I listened to the samples too, and, while I wasn't too impressed by the operatic vocals, the concept does seem to be interesting. Perhaps you'd like to check this out. |
