Beatties? As in the hobby store? Even as far back as my childhood, our local one was Beatties...

WOW some fence James - that should keep the elephants out of the garden!!!
i bought a bird bath recently, and as i was deliberating about this very important purchase, the salesman mentioned that it was guaranteed to keep elephants, lions, tigers and bears out of the garden, i wasn't sure - but he was right! i haven't had a single problem with large wild animals wandering in since ( only a fox and a mink) !!Smile

Beatties did buy out another chain which used to be local to me.  Can't think of the name at the moment.

Yes, maybe that's what I'm thinking of...

Our Beatties was another shop before and then after Beatties, it became a Firkin pub.  Now it's yet another pub.

I forget what shop it was before Beatties though.

It's a shame too, as Beatties wasn't a bad toy shop at all and now we don't have one.

Urgh!  Just noticed Beatties is now a part of House of Fraser and the Birmingham store closed this year.

That Beatties was a different concern.  Up market department stores.

Timothy Whites?

ahh, the memories, the cobbled streets, roasted chestnuts, witches being burnt at the stake, those were the days.

If a few of these hoody characters would burnt at the stake the rest would soon fall into line.

Oh!  I didn't realise there were two.

I'm talking about the Hobby Store... I shall re-research them!

Seems Beatties are now defunct too and I can't find much information about them... I forget who they took over now.

I like the way they portray Cameron on Radio 4's Punt and Dennis comedy show (forget the name of it...) as a Tellytubby.

here's one for the really very grey room.......
woke up this morning, sneezed................and put my back out!!!
I am now wedged in a chair at the desk.........have no idea how to get out of it though..........kids (on holidays) are milking it for all they are worth and the beloved figured ther was no point looking for dinner and has gone to pick up pizza (kids are much impressed!)

So here I am.... aging cripple.....hoping to recover in time for a gig at the weekend.........might need to hire a zimmer at this rate!

oh yeah, Mary Whitehouse experience was GREAT!!!!
