I could tell you what it is.  It's a G flat rooted Ab9 chord.

I don't think I am a "normal" prog fan either. LOL

Favorite thing I've read today: "Dammit Jim! I'm a doctor, not a dildo."

I'm not necessarily but I've found most of the bands I like through this website. PROG archives. Wink

I still like prog (obviously or I wouldn't still be here), but I don't rely on this site for new musical discoveries outside of certain people who recommend stuff to me.

I'm also glad I spent a day with my phone off and didn't log on to Facebook. I needed a break from some daily frustrations and I'm feeling much better about those now.

Yeap, I still like classic prog too, though I don't listen to it much. I do research stuff more from the periphery of the progressive sphere, like Krautrock, electronic, Italian avant, etc., stuff that I wouldn't touch back in my "prog-head" days. A good portion of the music I listen to now is (technically) progressive, but it certainly doesn't come from the "prog" scene.

Only Italian avant?  It's great for sure, but what about all the other great avant? Cry

The only Italian avant I've heard is Area.

I didn't say that Italian is the only avant I like, but that I am researching it now. Wink I did check out quite some avant-prog back in the day.

I'm not a great fan of avant-prog in general, but the Italians have a very interesting way of doing it. Actually, so have the Germans (Krautrock) and the French (Zeuhl). [I think it can be accepted for the sake of the discussin that Zeuhl and Kraut are forms of avantgarde rock.] That means I like the schools, but not what's left outside of them?
