http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-14379240 The US congress has decided that Sweden, Swaziland, China, Russia, France and United Kingdom shall pay even more to USA so they can keep up their normal lives. We call this a word in English I am not going to use here. A word not known in the American language, it seems according to my online translation English - American programme. You can take it back. I never asked for it.

I am afraid you need the xtra money to throw beefed up firecrackers at yellow man, keeping the cities alive, pay the police squads and simply protesting against receiving more money with the mean of using electricity. Edited by toroddfuglesteg - August 02 2011 at 12:20 |

While I'm in complete agreement that deficits here need to be way curtailed, note that the UK has a debt-to-GDP ratio of 76% - a ratio that the USA had as little as a few years ago. |

Sorry for bringing up the Utøya shooting again, but this is the most stupid and offensive comment I’ve seen so far:

You don't have to pay anything. That only gives the government the authority to issue more debt because the US is the only country in the world with a debt ceiling for some reason. If nobody wanted to buy US bonds anymore we'd be screwed and no law would help us. Do you understand what the national debt actually is? Edited by Henry Plainview - August 02 2011 at 12:36 |

I think it's not clear from your post whether or not you think raising the ceiling was a good thing; or did you object to the political theater surrounding it? Just not sure what you're trying to convey here.

For some, it is offensive. But it all depends on where you live on this planet. For an Israeli Jew who has been terrorbombed by Palestinians who he/she does not believe have any rights to the biblical Israel; this article is not particular offensive. For Norwegians living in Norway and some others, it is a very offensive article. Being offended depends on where you live and your experiences in life. ^I would tend to agree, though what I read is the writer expressing an opinion, one that is based on some actual facts. He may be right or wrong, but I don't see him insulting anybody or saying something stupid as "they had it coming". I can understand why one would get upset at an article like that but I'm quite sure there are much more offensive and stupid articles about the massacre in the internet and press.

Well, both Americans and Norwegians are regarded as human beings. The case of Odd Nerdrum is actually universal. We have a painter here in Scotland, Peter Howson, who experienced the same and got tonnes of problems with the tax authorities. He lives not far from me. He though were an honest man and admitted he had some mental problem. The exact same reasons why his paintings is so brilliant. His problems was solved because he admitted to his failings and his affairs, on his own iniative, was put under public administration. So he is now painting pictures, get a good wage and the public administrators are sorting out your taxes, rents and all other costs. A win win situation for everyone and Peter Howson is very happy about it after decades of angst and mismanagement where he has lost many millions by conmen. Let me add Peter Howson is a very kind human being and a brilliant artist. One of the top three living artists. As a human being, nobody here has a bad word to say about him. Odd Nerdrum and most other artists, if not everyone, have a screw loose under their bonnet. That is why they are brilliant artists. Yes, they have to pay taxes too. But let's help them out as we help out those with a screw loose who are not artists. This morning's rant, it was. And it was about an issue I am very passionate about.

As you mentioned to me on FB. To be fair, I tried to talk to you and explain how I'm pretty atypical but you just ignored me and re-stated "yeah best leave that to you guys" I'm trying to bridge gaps here but others want none of it! ![]() In such news...some BS about our politicians fighting over the debt ceiling when of course they were going to make a deal. I would say something a little more productive could've been done in place of their squabbling for fun, but no...I don't think anything productive would have been done. You know the expression 'America coughs, the world catches a cold'? Well, this time round if the land of the free coughs, the world will end up in ICU with terminal swine flu. Well done Obama. You've done all you can do at this time. You have not averted disaster, you've delayed it. The thing about bubbles is they tend to burst when they become over inflated. Now that the debt ceiling has been raised, this clears the way for further QE and currency devaluation, higher inflation (world wide) and panicking markets. Thank God the 'recession' ended in 2009. Phew! ![]() |
