I have to agree with you on NeBeLNeST, and I used to agree with you on Far Corner, but recently I have found Far Corner much more enjoyable. I even got over the fretless bass. Endangered is a great album, if one that occasionally borders on being too repetitive. But I guess that's the nature of chamber prog, variations on a theme is almost the whole point.

Sotos' debut is sublime, I forgot how good it was! This is what chamber prog should sound like... it even has some math moments.
Where did that violin go on their second release? |

I read somewhere they started as simple Nebelnest but have somehow changed their name to the unfathomable NeBeLNeST. I guess they wanted to do a Godspeed You Black Emperor! there. |

Except it's slightly more obnoxious. But at least it doesn't mess with search engines at all!

True.
Oh and welcome to P.A., Salvo, it's always good to see a new RIO and Avant-prog fan here. Sotos make NeBeLNeST sound like amateurs and they're even from the same country. 'tis a shame Yan Hazera passed on, his guitar playing was fantastic. |

A recommendation:
Officer - Ossification
I've had this album for a year or so but never though of mentioning it here but I should have.
Here's what it says in Mended Records blogspot - http://mendedrecords.blogspot.com/2006/12/officer-ossification.html
Mick
There's another release: OFFICER! - Yes Yes No No Yes No Yes, 1988 (AYAA) |

I've seen this mentioned, but have yet to hear anything by them. I believe ReR Megacorps has copies of Ossification, but I'm not sure about Yes Yes No No Yes No Yes.
Infact, they may not, but I'm sure I've seen it recently somewhere... what's your thoughts on it, Assaf? |

Oh! I've heard two Officer tracks on some various artists compilations and I had always wondered if there was more out there, and I recently found a comprehensive list of albums on which Zeena Parkins appears, so Mick Hobb's name has been on my mind. It's time I listened to an album. =)

Great recommendation. This little nudge has gotten me to play it once again, been a while, I snagged this from mended back in the day (sighs, nostalgic b*****d me is). I seem to be an absolute sucker for AYAA label releases, especially 'round that genius period of '85. I guess you could put this alongside some of the other fun loving avant-pop release, I'm quite the fan of Catherine Jauniaux's vocals. laplace do you know her? Methinks you could be interested in her solo album Fluvial it's splendid, her French accent for some reason makes me reminisce over numerous female characters Jean-luc Godard has used in his films (which is pleasant at worst!).
Anyone actually heard Yes Yes No No Yes No Yes. ? |

As for Fluvial, had it in mp3 and lately bought it from Dave on CD. I actually bought it because of hodgkinson, but she is quite special with her voice.
As for that second Officer album, haven't heard it.

I opened a thread about Electro-Acoustic Music and I figure people reading this thread might find this style of interest to them.
Have a look and give your recommendations or feedback; I'm new to this style and am exploring it currently with the guidance of a friend (from Progressive Ears) and this is turning out to be a very special musical trip.

A few additions of late (and not so late...):
APPENDIX from Slovakia. Interesting inventive rock.
ART FLEURY - Italian band, who I recommend getting their reissued album, I Luoghi del Potere by Die Schachtel
DRAKE, BOB - fantastic and prolific musician and composer. Wonderful stuff, highly recommended.
ELLIPSIS, RICH WOODSON'S - US avant-rock musician; for those who like the chaotic and complex.
ENSEMBLE HAVADIÀ - Italian avant/folk band. Worth looking for.
FERNANDEZ LEDESMA,JOSÉ LUIS - Mexican avant-rock musician. Recommended by Cesar Inca
GRUPPO D’ALTERNATIVA - pretty good Italian band from the 70's. Their album Ipotesi has been reissued in mini-lp format.
HARRY ROESLI - avant-rock musician from Indonesia
KAM-PAS-NEL-LA - cool multi-national project.
LOOK DE BOUK - another French oddity/craziness, cool stuff.
MAMMA NON PIANGERE - Italian 70's avant-rock band. Recommended.
NOODBAND* - Dutch jazzy avant-rock
NOXAGT - crunchy, heavy rock from Norway
TARTAR LAMB - -project of Toby Driver and Mia Matsumiya
TOUPIDEK LIMONADE - French band related to Hellebore
TR-OND & THE SUBURBAN SAVAGES - from Trond Gjellum of Panzerpappa comes another project. Read the interview I did with him in the interview section
Soon to come an interview with XHOHX
Cleared bands for addition can be seen here - http://ratingfreak.com/home/progarchives.xhtml?path=raz/cleared

By the way, I posted here that I bought from Bob Drake all his solo albums. I have to give a high praise and recommendations for all of these albums!!! I am getting into his music so easily and it's just excellent!
I'll give a more detailed description later, but for now, suffice it to say it's highly recommended.
