You're welcome!
So we should check the following albums (that I don't know): 1) Desperation (1973) 2) La Cittą che Io Vorrei (1973) 3) Tato Tomaso's Guitar (1974) plus a bunch of singles. P.S. unortunately no cd releases for what I know. 2nd P.S. the great album Pigro from 1978 is out of print!!! Can't find a cd copy!!!! Edited by Andrea Cortese - November 19 2012 at 11:52 |

Singer-songwriter from Rome, Mauro Pelosi released four
albums among which the first two are particularly desired by prog collectors for
unknown reasons, as they contain gloomy songs, often with dismal
lyrics.
Despite the presence of Gianni Leone and Gianchi Stinga from Il Balletto di Bronzo among the others his albums are mostly based on acoustic guitar and with some orchestral arrangements here and there. I was listenning to this tremendous album recently and I've found the same qualities of writing and emotion than on the first Nick Drake. |

Very interesting work, primarily led by acoustic guitars but in an often oppressive, repetitive manner. Some keyboards and percussion. Slightly dark. A tradeoff of male and female vocals, the latter really quite emotive at times. |

Jim, that's one of my top five of modern RPI. But it must be said that up to now I only bought five albums
Andrea, my preference after "Ballata", goes to "I Lupi".

Yeah, those Desperation tracks sound a bit........desperate I'll have to stick with Ballata I think. |

You will see (hear) Jim. there's a great songwriting here, almost as great as my top 1 Franco Maria Giannini's Affresco. BTW, I just noticed than Giannini wrote his songs with Gianni Dell'orso, the brother of Edda Dell'Orso, the voice of Morricone. Strange how everything is connected.

Hey! I actually found it on the (US) amazon website, so not to long a search for me this time :) I did think it'd take me longer to find, so very happy.

Thanks, Dread! I'll look into it myself, there's one or two other items from Amazon.com I've been stalling on getting, so this just gives me an excuse!
If you're in Melbourne, are you off to the Goblin concert on Wednesday night? |

Pierre, I forgot to mention, I've heard that second `Ping Pong' album, really good!! A lovely nice mix of sophisticated adult pop, jazzy playing and progressive workouts. The final track `Caro Guida' sounds like a cross between the later Beach Boys songs, modern band Super Furry Animals and the more psychedelic stuff by an American singer called Matthew Sweet!! Not sure if those names mean anything!
What a wonderful album! I've wondered, is the first album also good? Pity both albums aren't released on one CD! Edited by Aussie-Byrd-Brother - November 19 2012 at 22:07 |

I'd love to, but it really sucks - I'm about 4 hours east of the city and it's on a worknight (of course) so I have to miss out, how about you?

Yep, looking forward to it! I was able to pull an emergency `shift request' for a day off work luckily! Tickets were only $40, which I was pretty amazed by!
Sigh, if only this was the beginning of an `Italian Prog invasion' of RPI bands coming to play in Australia - wishful thnking, I suppose! |

Michael, the first PING PONG has english vocals. Though it sounds italian, but more sixties. The english DJ consider this one as a gem.

OK, take a deep breath.
This is interesting and bizarre. Here's a guy showing off his RPI vinyl collection. I loved some of his comments and the chance to see some vinyl I've never seen. The weird part is that the guy is simultaneously dealing with some personal issue/debate he is going through with a friend......the bouncing back and forth is funny/strange. Why he chose to have that conversation publicly as a part of his homage to RPI is beyond me, but heh, it's his video! The majority of this occurs in the first 4 1/2 minutes, so skip to 4:30 if you just want to see his commentary on the vinyl. I loved seeing some of this rare stuff I'd only seen on CD before. |
