If you like Le Orme and need  a new fill, this will totaly do nicely.

Gr8dane, that Aldo album is a very decent! As you said, very melodic, it's accessible and sophisticated Italian pop/prog - not to mention it's got an AMAZING cover! I've got the CD, but I'm a little annoyed as it's just been given a vinyl release - now THAT is how that wonderful cover should have been presented in the first place!

I have a question - did you enjoy this solo album more or less than the recent Le Orme album `La Via Della Seta'?

Hmmm, that album seems familar, Pierre....I remember the cover with the dinosaurs for some reason!

I wonder, has it been re-released on vinyl, which might explain why I might have been looking it up sometime?

I don't think I've actually got it in my collection, though, otherwise I'm sure I would have come across it and given it a spin at some point.

I just checked, Pierre, Greg Walker's got it in at Syn-phonic, so I must have been looking at it/considering it when he got it in stock a while back.

Would you recommend grabbing a copy?

No, but I'm very curious! I'll give the Youtube clips a listen when I'm back at home!

Man, all these Youtube clips of lost and abandoned albums - I wish they offered you the option to download! We'd be able to full some gaps in our collections with these lost wonderful gems!

A mellow Cd and a Lp exist, but very hard to find. Precious things are always rare

I just hope it means we get a nice steady run of reissues and re-releases on both CD and LP of Italian rarities over the years! Always happy to pay up for some unearthed treasures!

Hmmm, I'm sensing a lot of love for this title for several people, perhaps I should investigate as well!

Dread, I have to ask, where did you order this title from?!

Beautiful, indeed.  Great music, yes again.  But remember guys, to add a band to RPI it has to be progressive-rock first and foremost, not Italian pop, or just good rock music from an Italian singer-songwriter perspective.  "What is prog" will always be a contentious debate, and there may be examples of similar artists already on site, but we can't go by that, we have to look at each case anew and without the X=Y argument.  I listened to a few songs online and on Mat's site and I definitely hear some good music though I'm not quite convinced it's prog yet.  Neither Mat's nor Croce refer to him as a prog artist.

He needs to have one or two albums that are solidly prog, at least enough to convince us that he should be added....when you guys get your album let us know if you think it fits that billSmile.  I'll try to do some more online listening when I have a chance.  Also, Todd may have the guys proggiest album already, he has a deeper collection than I do....if he does he can get it to the team members for evaluation.

Not trying to dampen enthusiasm for good music guys, just trying to answer the question why (perhaps) he has not been added yet.....maybe it's an oversight, but maybe previous incarnations of the team felt there wasn't enough "prog" in the equation to add him.
...that moment you realize you like "Mob Rules" better than "Heaven and Hell"

Jim. Andrea (P) introduced me to this album of Graziani, a year ago. If I remember well, my question to him was : "Do you know some artits with a prog sensibility ... or something like that ?"

Hi guys,

Ballata is not a prog album strictu sensu. So we (me and other former members of the team) never took seriously the idea of adding Ivan to the RPI sub.

It's more a singer-songwriter eclectic record of the seventies with prog touches here and there (jazzy, folk etc.). Sure it has its moments, though. Just listen to these tracks for examples. Unfortunately I can't find on youtube the 1976 version of Il Campo della Fiera.

I only own this album on cd and the followong I Lupi (1977), Agnese (1979), Viaggi e Intemperie (1980) and have to say that Ballata is the more interesting for lovers of (soft) italian prog.

The others are wonderful too (just look at my new avatar) but more pop.

We should check the albums from 1973, though.

1) I Giorni di Novembre

2) La Pazza sul Fiume

3) Donna della Terra

4) Trench

5) Dimmi ci Credi Tu

Andrea, the 1973 album seems more in a folk vein; You can listen to some songs on Mats site :

There are two albums from 1973: La Cittą che Io Vorrei and Tato Tomaso's Guitar.

Oh, no, the latter is from 1974.Embarrassed

Desperation is from 1973 as is La Cittą.Embarrassed
