I'll let it pass for a while, and when I feel like listening to them again, I'll give it another go.

Oddly enough, my favorite tracks so far are the Hazards of Love 2 and The Crane Wife 3, and those aren't complex at all.

He will; I stopped it... I enjoyed the first track, but after that my mind wandered off extremely badly. I don't care for the singer's voice either; I think it would help if they had a different vocalist.

I disagree. I think Colin's voice fits the music and I can't really think of any other vocalists that would complement the music as well. Maybe you 1) don't care for it or 2) need time to get used to it.

We'll find out.

Worst band that's really been that way with me is VDGG. I just can't find anything to like in that band, and I've given them like more than 35 spins... so I effectively decided to give up a while ago.

BTBAM and a few others haven't done anything for me yet either.

I heard Bloodmeat and loved them almost immediatly. Although I can understand them not being for everyone.

Same for me on VDGG. Haven't given them near as many spins though, so I haven't given up yet.

I have always found it interesting that prog fans try to "grow into" a band or an album.
When most people listen to something and don't get it, they quit right away. But not us.
Interesting.

I'd say because we are bored and don't have anything better to do with our time than to listen to music over and over that we don't like it, until we like it...if for no other reason than for the nostalgia. To remember the great time when we didn't like it.

We also seem to have a taste for self-deprecating humor.
I think that comes from being nerds in the first place.

Haha, nice response. LOL

I think the reason I'll listen to something again if there is motivation for me to. Most of prog is quite complex and if I find myself thinking about an album, I'll most likely give it another try.

I personally have never tried that hard. I have listened to albums I didn't like very much 10 times, but some people seem to think that only by listening to it 50 times over the course of a year can you really say you don't like it.

No, I think 10 is a good number, really; 50 in a year is definitely ridiculous if you don't like. Nothing is THAT dense that you wouldn't be able to make an informed opinion after 25 listens absolute maximum (and even then, probably less), let alone 50.
