I've just heard of another death before his time - Michael Lee, a brilliant drummer mainly known for playing with Page and Plant, has died aged 39. Shocked

For all your Woolies memories.Or wooly memories as befits The Shed.

Copy and paste link into your browser.Hyperlink doesn't seem to work.

If we had an amnesty on all those who nicked stuff from Woolies the problem would be solved.

e.g. 20 'Flying Saucers' half a dozen 'Fruit Salads' and a dozen 'Black Jacks' half-inched from the Pick 'n' Mix in 1965.
Repay Woolies including 43 years worth of inflation ...sorted.

Drummer Michael Lee Dies, aged 39

Wednesday, November 26 2008, 20:34 GMT

By Alex Fletcher, Entertainment Reporter

Former Page and Plant drummer Michael Lee has passed away, aged 39.

No cause of death has been confirmed.

Lee performed with bands including Echo And The Bunnymen, The Cult, ZZ Top, Guns N' Roses and Aerosmith, but was most famous for his work with Led Zeppelin duo Robert Plant and Jimmy Page in the 1990s.

He first worked with Plant on the singer's 1993 Fate Of Nations solo album. When Plant reunited with Page one year later, he invited Lee to perform on their albums and world tour.

The drummer is credited as a co-writer for each track on the duo's 1998 LP Walking Into Clarksdale.

Lee's most recent work included touring and recording with Canadian singer Jeff Martin.

Great examples of public utility co-ordination #3847
========================================
Our wonderful council have spent the last couple of months (and no doubt large quantities of council tax money) replacing the pavements on the main road between my house and Hornchurch station with nice shiny new slabs. So far they've got about halfway along approx 2/3 mile stretch of road.
Imagine my surprise this morning when I noticed that our wonderful local electricity supplier has dug up said shiny new slabs in 6 places already!

It's not just pick n mix going into administration now, Chris - courtesy of The Daily Mash, we now have this :

Quote CHEESE AND ONION CRISPS GO INTO ADMINISTRATION

ADMINISTRATORS were called into cheese and onion crisps last night as the classic flavour became the latest high profile victim of the recession.

What is the point of cheese and onion crisps? The demise of cheese and onion came at the end of a black day for the British economy which also saw the collapse of conkers, pick'n'mix and a nice pot of tea.

City analysts say cheese and onion was unable to compete in a market filled with radical new flavours including Double Gloucester and red onion, Stilton and shallot, and vintage cheddar and onion chutney.

Bill McKay, head of crisps at Madeley-Finnegan, said: "The thing I'll miss most about cheese and onion is how it masked the stench of stale urine that pervades every inch of this Godforsaken hole of a country.

"But unfortunately it had begun to look very old fashioned alongside modern British brands such as celebrity cock fights, alco-puke, casual racism and sex with strangers in the back of a Vauxhall Vectra."

He added: "For brands to survive these days they have to adapt. Conkers involved two humans in the same place with no electronic devices.

"And who wants a nice pot of tea when you can pay £1.75 for two square feet of boiling foam?"

Administrators are hopeful that parts of the flavour can be salvaged and have already spoken to Waitrose about incorporating it into a new batch of Hand Smoked Gorgonzola and Vietnamese Chive.

Worrying days indeed

that's funny.
I like this one too -

"BRITAIN was awash with stupid bloody hats yesterday as the temperature dipped below freezing for the first time this winter.

Image
'Go on, ask me about my hat'
As the cold snap entered its third day trainee solicitor Julian Cook wore a brightly patterned Inca hat with his business suit that made him look like he had escaped from a mental hospital.

In Colchester accountant Tom Logan went for the retro communist look with a cheap Russian-style fake fur hat from Millets. Everyone said he was an arsehole.

Meanwhile, in Glasgow one young man wore a Fair Isle patterned wool skullcap teamed with a grey duffel coat and red cord trousers until he was beaten to death by a blood-thirsty mob.

Henry Brubaker, head of hats at the Institute for Studies, said: "So far today I have seen a beret, two homburgs, a boater, a pirate hat, five sou'westers, two panamas, a pith helmet and a bearskin.

"These are all perfectly nice hats but they should only ever be worn indoors."

He added: "Unfortunately too many people these days are using cold weather as a way of expressing their unbearable personalities.

"If it is very cold and you are tempted to go out wearing one of your stupid bloody hats, don't forget that you may end up being shoved under a train."

Sadly, I've just bought a very similar hat.

So Mr & Mrs Accountant from Surbiton can prove how 'wacky' and 'zany' they are really... the wearing of any such jester hat should be a capital offence.

No - really - they should be killed for wearing them

Good call Lee - a pair of idiots they may be, but the beer's a damned fine drop

A couple of beers myself this evening, I think, then on to the Lower Red Lion in St Albans tomorrow for the landlord's farewell beer festival (mini bus from our local to St Albans, then back again, dropping us at... our local - huzzah! )

Could be interesting once the current landlord goes - the Lower Red Lion is always the one our local is in main rivalry for the Pub Of The Year, so with the landlord leaving... could make it easier for next year, perhaps

4 years running, maybe??
