Yes - Relayer; Heaven And Earth
Pink Floyd - WYWH; A Collection of Great Dance Songs (really PF are uncompilable (sic)) King Crimson- Red; Earthbound (if this was a beautiful production then this would be pretty good indeed). Tull - A P P; Dot Com (it's the Mango moments really)... Rush - Permanent Waves; A Test For Echo (sorry, just my VHO) it didn't work for me. Sabbath - Vol. 4; Forbidden. Though every Sabbath album has a classic track and this one does have Guilty As Hell. Heep - Any of the first 6; Return To Fantasy/ Wonder wall.... until I get to Conquest... Purple - In Rock and Made in Japan versus Slaves and Masters, Nobody's Perfect (probably the hideous production). Genesis - Wind and Wuthering (oddly featuring my favourite and least favourite - One For The Vine and Special Way (too sentimental for me by far), probably should be Trick but the newer masters make everything sound so much better... Worst album? Probably the very first, it's okay but they had a long way to go. ELP- BSS, Black Moon (which isn't that bad). I have not heard In The Hot Seat as PA reviews put me off but nowhere near as much trouble as I have with Love Beach which I cannot buy in public as I would be associating myself with one of the most hideous LP covers of all time. And that is saying something if you google that concept... so no, I have yet to hear Love Beach. Thankfully there is so much else... especially live ELP... P. Tree - best... er, um. Recordings. In Absentia. Up The Downstair. Coma Divine, Blank Planet, Deadwing; versus The Incident. S. Wilson - Grace For Drowning vs Insurgentes. Led Zeppelin - everything versus the nasty compilations (full of great material but dilute the 3d nature of the albums). Univers Zero - best - take your pick, Combat maybe. Worst? Yer what? No such thing. Camel - Snow Goose (though I prefer the first live album version easily); Breathless. Beatles - Abbey Road; Let It Be (especially the UK version). Still a few decent numbers. Zappa - Lather; Broadway The Hardway (not bad but a lot of this sort of thing instantly dates badly - as opposed to dating well like Waka / Jawaka and The Grand Wazzo which are so obviously productions of their era but have sun shining through the music.) Steve Hackett - Anything Genesis Revisited, Spectral Mornings; Squackett (except for the most excellent opening number). |

same for me--I mean not only does OYE suck but it doesn;t sound remotely like a Yes album---as far as Tales goes--I love it and find it interesting that it's Steven Wilson's favorite Yes album.

Many people think of it as the worst. I don't think it's bad, but it isn't impressive either. Gilmour's part is the best easily (but it isn't wow). Wright's has some interesting parts and some not so much. Mason's is meh and Waters' has a normal acoustic ballad and an....experiment. (The live side is great though).

^ I cannot think of what is Pink Floyd's best and worst.
Best - A Saucerful of Secrets? More? Meddle? Dark Side? Wish You Were Here? Animals? I just can't choose one. Worst - The Final Cut? A Momentary Lapse of Reason? I like them both. Piper... never impressed me much but I don't think it's bad or weak. Edited by Cristi - December 13 2015 at 00:49 |

Floyd
Best - Animals Worst - The Final Cut I don't like much of the post Waters stuff very much so AMLOR & TDB would slot into the bottom 3, I found The Endless River pretty bland but TFC is the only one I actively dislike & got rid of.

Kate Bush: The Dreaming - The Red Shoe
OK I accept Kate Bush is not a "band". But then most bands, certainly the big ones, have more than one album bad enough that I don't want to listen to them again to decide which one is worst. Kate Bush though has one dreadful one and all others are at least OK, mostly very good. (She also sometimes has a single diabolically bad song on an otherwise good album; think "Big Sky" for example.) Some German bands have outstandingly bad albums: Novalis: Flossenengel (best) - Bumerang, Eloy: Time to Turn (best) - Ra. I'm with Nogbad on Floyd. Edited by Lewian - December 13 2015 at 19:24 |

I'd agree that it's bad but it's not really an ELP album, I doubt they had anything much to do with it.
