Agreed that Cano is having an awesome year and is most deserving of an All-Star appearance.  Not sure if Jeter belongs or not, but he was voted in by the fans yet again, so que sera sera.  I can live with Verlander not being there as the numbers are so comparable, and as I said above, I think that Weaver was more deserving of a spot.  It just seems that in a situation between taking 2 or 3 starters for 1 team vs a comparable starter from another team, the other team should get represented instead of having 2 or 3 from the 1 team.  Either way, Boesch being snubbed is the one that really bothers me.  Who knows if this kid will ever put up numbers like that again.  I know that he is just a rookie, but give the kid his proper recognition.

I must say, not familiar with him outside the name..but from a quick look he is certainly having one hell of a year.
I know this may not always pan out...but I always like to play the future: Assuming he keeps pace Boesch would end up with 28ish HR's 110ish RBI and has a damn good BA and OB+S. Is a shame hes not getting representation, hopefully he'll have a good career and will be recognized in the future

According to MLB.com Girardi only had 7 picks to make, and he had to use 5 of them for teams without a representative.  He only had 2 remaining and he picked Sabathia and A-Rod with those 2 picks.

Heh you are pissed about this.
Like you said, what manager wouldn't look out for their players?
I'd like to say I would be fairer if I was in his spot, but it must be a tough thing. I mean they're people we watch on TV, to a manager it has to be a totally different relationship.

I am, but it is mostly because it is the same damn thing year after year.  There were a number of years where the Tigers only representative was there because they had to take one, but now that they are a decent team, there should be more. Last year, the Tigers had 4 representatives, which was a shock, but there is no reason that they couldn't have 4 reps this year either.  Of course, even though they had 4 reps, I think only 2 of the players did anything anyways.  Verlander pitched 1 inning. Jackson didn't pitch.  I don't remember what Granderson did.  Inge hit in the home run derby, and I think was a defensive replacement in the 9th inning. Maybe he got an at-bat and probably struck out.

don't think it is just the fans that hate the Yankees Embarrassed

yeah.. I am surprised as well.  From I read Texas just took on another 2.5 mill in salary.. yet that wasn't exactly in the bankruptcy plan.  Interested to see how that plays out...  maybe he'll get a chance to pitch one for Texas before being sent back to Seattle then... arrgg... to the Yankees LOL

How is any MLB team in trouble financially? Last I checked they were getting some good money from TV and that doesn't include any local deals that they might have.

Wait..he's not?
When I was working today I got a text from someone going crazy about how Cliff Lee was going to the Yankees, to which I thought, sweet.
And....he's not Angry  LOLlolwtf man?

Why did Seattle let him go? Did they acquire some offense? If not...they need it! The Yanks are playing them as we speak and Seattle's pitching has actually pretty damn good, but they are beyond anemic and seem to keep falling apart as the game goes on.
EDIT: AS I was typing this it has happened LOL a combo of an error, poor relief pitching, and just general fielding has caused the score to balloon to 4-0 this inning.

I live 'bout 10 minutes from Safeco Field.  I am sorry to see Lee traded, not that he was gonna stay beyond the season.  Feel some sympathetic regret for any who bought tickets for tonight's game thinking they'd see him pitch.  He's on a remarkable roll this year.  Eh, it's a nasty business, sports.  Just ask those in Cleveland.  The nice thing about Lee is that he's a pro, through and through.  No bitching about the team he's playing for, no complaints, no diva attitude.  He'll end up where he wants to be at the end of the season.  M's pick up some players with potential, assuming MLB and the courts let this thing go through.

As Hunter S. said about the music biz, it surely can be applied to pro sports:

"The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side."
Can you tell me where we're headin'?

Aaahhhh Hunter....

That is nice to hear, lord knows so many athletes today are not so professional
Why may the MLB/courts not let this through?
Are the Rangers really in danger of bankruptcy? That does seem crazy, esp with that team I mean is attendance and viewerhip that bad for the team?

The Rangers are in bankruptcy.  They're due to be auctioned off to the highest bidder.

Well.......M's got Smoak from Texas but he is only hitting .209 8HR....pretty anemic if you ask me especially coming from a first place team. Again all I heard yesterday from Zurensik is "we are building a team to win long term..."??? wtf...what happened to the past 4 yrs? M's have not made the playoffs since what 2002?? Ichiro is gotta be gettin tired of all this...I mean I am sure he is ready to go back to Japan and possibly end his career there. The picthing staff??? Felix is it...everyone else is below average...nowhere near a playoff caliber rotation...they pretty much stink.

I propose a major overhaul with the M's......they need bats. And also they got 2 AA pitchers who will not be MLB ready for at least 2-3 seasons....that's just great.

Ask any Pirate fan about rebuilding for the long term. We've been doing it since Bonds and Bonilla left.

When did the strike zone become from the belt to the knees? I always thought that it was from the letters of the uniform top to the knees.

I think that they need to raise the mound back up as well. The pitching talent pool has become too deluded with all the teams that are playing. Give the pitchers a little back.

I lost interest in it 5 yrs ago......not so much a joke but the big boppers don't participate. I assume because they are not getting paid enough to do it..
That's the one thing that is getting me with MLB the past 10 yrs.......Its all about the paycheck....I mean really do you need a pay raise from $6million to $10million...At $10mil that's $192K per week salary!!!!! What!!??Shocked

Oh well...
