Jackson's sax reminds me of the sound of a strangled cat, or the sound that a cat makes when you step on its tail.  I find it to be annoying on H to He and Pawn Hearts.  I guess that I am strange in that way.

I know I'm going to sound like a broken record, but have you tried Godbluff? I'm dead serious when I say I didn't appreciate any of the band's albums until I heard that one

Listen to World Record then.

Besides, there is some guitar on Pawn Hearts. Wink

Oh and I'm still annoyed from Tuesday's pub quiz... I didn't know who had a track called Match of the Day in the 1970s... d'oh! EmbarrassedLOL

I actually really like Dog Years. Big smile

That is a good album.

I'm listening to nothing but Oldfield and Tull today though. Seasonal choices. Big smile

Gentle Giant and Peter Gabriel so far. I wouldn't mind some Oldfield later, but I think I'm gonna write another review: Phideaux - Chupacabra

That sounds good! I really am only here for not long today because of Thanksgiving so I can't review anything... but maybe I'll have more time tomorrow.

You and your Thanksgiving...but I actually have a free day tomorrow, so it'll be an extra long weekend. Really looking forward to it. Had the last exam before Christmas yesterday, so everything is slowly...slowing down. I think I'm gonna cook something nice today, just as a treat.

Awesome!

I've had all week off except Monday. LOL

I have two more weeks of school after this week though, then exam week.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!  Time to head out for dinner and to watch the Lions get embarrassed nationally.

Happy Thanksgiving, US Shredders! Hug

Subject change...

Linus, nice avatar there - I'm still amazed to have picked that up off iTunes the other day for £1.99!!  It's rather good. Big smile  Downloading RPI albums for pennies is my latest recession-beating music-acquisition technique! Tongue  I might have to visit that Italian Prog thread at some point to guide me towards a few more gems...

I've found some RPI quite cheesy sounding...

I like Alphataurus though.

And one post to go... I'll save it up.

I'm glad you liked it! A stunning album, but I have to agree with James to a certain degree; some RPI albums can be very emotional (or cheesy if you choose to look at it that way Wink), especially the more symphonic ones. But then I just love Italian cheese (parmigiano-reggiano, pecorino, mozzarella, mascarpone...LOLEmbarrassedWink) and I just think it's a lot more honest and raw than a lot than can be found from more traditional symphonic bands, so it's not much of a problem.

Hehehe.  Italian cheese. LOL

I think this music is lovely if you're in the mood for it.  I love all that dark and jagged RIO/avant stuff, but sometimes you want to float away on a cloud of gorgeousness!!  My favourite so far is PFM, 'Storia di un Minuto'.

Yup, my favourite RPI album as well, along with Palepoli, Semiramis' Dedicato A Frazz and Banco's Io Sono Nato Libero.
