I don't understand a word of Kobaian but it wouldn't be the same without it. It'd be like Sigur Ros with english vocals.

When Sigur Ros released one of their albums (their latest I think) they had it streaming for free on their MySpace page. I gave it a listen. It wasn't my thing.

If Geddy sang in Kobiain, I'd actually understand the words more.

Yes, but at least with Geddy you can look the lyrics up in English and then re-listen and say, Oh Yeah that's what he was saying. With Magma, he is still Heiling Hitler or whatever they were saying in that other thread.

They've had better limitations in the past. This new combination of 15-minute pending time, and a completely uncertain access is morbid.

I know the basic story behind the whole Kobaian thing, but I don't try to assign any meaning to the lyrics. As for Sigur Ros, I don't want to know what he is singing about when it isn't Hopelandic.

That's the silliest thing I've heard all day. That thread was stupid. Magma really is not about Nazism, Fascism or Hitler. I can also look up the lyrics to Magma. Sure, I may not understand them but I can read them and sing along to them. Also, they do have some translations of words. And I can still read Rush's lyrics and go wtf?

Some can't be found elsewhere = some relied or still do only on RS.

Besides, as Brian Eno says, it's about the atmosphere of the music, rather the words. Not in all cases for me but in Magma's case it is.
Having the lyrics in their own language adds mysticism and doesn't distract from the whole experience. I think if they sang in French or English, it just wouldn't work the same.

I know but it requires is a tougher search in internet... I dedicate to it when I have time... not likely in this particular weeks but is probable to find it in megaupload... but you have to be patient...

Funnily enough, I have always thought Kobaian sounded like German.
