Lots of Soft Machine covers are pretty embarrassing. Doesn't really invite you in or give you any imagination when listening to them for me  Here's a few (Volume 2, Third, and Hergest Ridge - Mike Oldfield):

As for Hergest Ridge I don't find it bad. Like the dog on the lawn.

I like this cover a lot. Looks nice. And King Crimson's THRAK cover fits the music perfectly. Agreed on Abominog, quite a nasty cover.

Oh Lord, this band will never be the same to me after seeing this... "The Hall of Floaters in the Sky" and "Time Robber" had pretty good cover artworks though

This are the worst Prog covers
Even Fireballet's is at list hilarious
PS: Believe it or not, this is a Prog album with Billy Joel, and the cover sucks.

this is still the worst.. and most disturbing prog album cover ever...  who stole the real Fripp?... the only thing more capable of throwing my music world view completely out of orbit would have been the (thankfully never done) Sylvian Waters album with Roger smiling and dancing with a budweiser in one hand and a hot red head in the other.
