Yup. I've been sitting at my keyboard for about an hour, and I've got most of Learning to Live down pat. I suck at sight reading, and reading sheet music in general (I like composing, improv, and figuring out stuff by ear much more), but I've been challenging myself lately with books like these, in hope of becoming an all-around better musician. An hour's pretty good (for me) considering a song like that. |

Don't have the Kayo Dot, but the three PoS (especially The Perfect Element) is some of the greatest music ever created. |

I think Entropia is actually my favorite based on first impressions. I've had The Perfect Element for some time and could never really get into it. If you're into Avant at all then I would heavily recommend Choirs of the Eye. Mind-blowing.

Down to these three in my carrying case: about time I added a Gryphon to my collection and this is a good one. Those two above go to the living room "jukebox" tomorrow. Not one of my favorite Hedges above. His instrumental stuff is his finest. I've still got a freebie which I am going to have to scan in to get the cover art on my players: Umphrey's McGee 2010 Summer Sampler. Not offered on their site but I found a short stack (2) at a local package store, I asked if they were free and upon getting a "yes" I had to take one. I may yet get off my butt and attend their upcoming outdoor concert in Atlanta. I think this one readily completes my collection of readily available Happy Rhodes studio albums. I am, uhm, happy with it. |

The Pentangle's Basket of Light. How refreshing. Absolutely gorgeous.
Thought's of Emerlist Davjack by The Nice. I used to have this album on vinyl many years ago.
The Piper at the Gates of Dawn by Pink Floyd. Also had it on vinyl. I think the above two albums don't get enough credit for the foundations of prog.
Recreation Day by Evergrey. Typical prog/metal.
Frequency By IQ. One of few neo-prog bands I really enjoy. Need to listen to it a few more times. After one listen I prefer Dark Matter.
Pain of Salvation's The Perfect Element I. I'm not sure.
Brand X-Missing Period. Fantastic. Right up there with Unorthodox Behaviour and Moroccon Roll.

I quite enjoy that one. Did you buy it off of their web-page? I love buying things off of bands with bandcamp webpages because of the immediate mp3 download you get with the CD. |
