Did Old Saint Nick put a Magma box under your Christmas tree?

Yes, he most certainly did. Big smile  In related zeuhl-purchasing news, I also bought myself a limited edition Guapo poster - currently being framed at vast expense (the framing will cost much more than the print!!).

And 2009 has got off to a good start.  I got engaged on New Year's day! Big smile Heart

Holy (Henry) Cow!  Congratulations!!  ClapClap

Set a date yet?

That reminded me of an inside joke... I haven't used "Henry Cow!" in a while. I'll have to do that. LOL

I do too. The thing I like the most about it though is that it's like being transported intellectually into a very unique, yet intriguing world. I can picture some neat stuff while listening to it. Big smile

Also, just in general... eyeballs and skulls = weird-but-cute!

I actually agree with you there. The Residents are cuddly! LOL

Playing your album right now actually, 'Lost Wanderings' is the best track so far.

Awesome. Thumbs Up

I love that song; I composed the entire thing myself. Took so much work, but it was worth it. I personally think the 2nd half of the album is better than the 1st though.

Yes, it's just very... different.  Music from another planet, almost.

[Ooh, 'Perplexing Paramount' has a definite Beefheart influence to it...]

Aw, thanks Alex! Big smile  ('Creeping Conflicts' was good... still listening...)

You're welcome. Smile

And thanks! If you liked that, you should like the rest.

Haha, just wait until you get to Internal Tribute. That definitely has Beefheart influence to it. Tongue

Somebody was recommending Deus ex Machina to me earlier - as in "If you like Area, you'll like Deus ex Machina".  Anyone heard them?

No, but now I'm quite intrigued...

Franco Battiato was also recommended.  Apparently Frank Zappa said that Battiato's 1972 album 'Pollution' was a work of genius!! Shocked LOL  Might bear investigation also.

If Zappa said something is genius, that makes me want to really check it out. Big smile

That (Battiato) is one of micky's favorite artists of all time.

Battiato is nice, but not very related to Area in terms of sound. He definitely is experimental though. Sulle Corde di Aries is great, and Pollution is good as well. With time, I might add a fourth star to that album.

The concepts are briefly laid on our website too (and will be for every album), if you're interested.

Haha, just wait until you get to Internal Tribute. That definitely has Beefheart influence to it. Tongue

The 'music from another planet' comment was referring to the Residents... but I guess it could apply to yours as well! LOL Tongue

[Still listening... 'Descent into Space' had some fun drumming at the beginning and was suitably spacey-sounding and formless-feeling...]

Hey Alex, do you have Ahvak?  If not, add it to the list.

Oh, I misunderstood your referencing then, haha. My bad. LOL

Their music definitely is from another planet, I'd agree. It's like seeing into an undiscovered civilization, I think.

Descent into Space is awesome. I like the mood to it. Big smile
