Cool, I'll follow it (and add it to the links in my blog).
I also do a blog but it's not genre specific and I indulge myself in writing about all the music I am enjoying at the moment.

Their nice press folks have given me a digital promo so's I can review it for my new blog. Not listened to it yet but I have high expectations! Big smile

And assaf - my blog is hopefully not too genre-specific. I'm using the word "experimental" in the broadest possible sense, and will be covering pretty much everything I'm listening to, as it's that ineffable whiff of quirkiness which always makes me prick up my ears!

Aww, did you give up on Nurse With Wound? I wanted you to go crazy! Anyway, I'll keep an eye on it, even though your tastes don't often converge with mine, despite both of us self-identifying as avant fans, entertainingly enough. It's probably best to keep it eclectic: you can't compete with Free Jazz Stef and some other blogs for pure avant. Why do you use "we" when you're the only one writing? If you're not the only one writing you should make it clearer and state who is writing what without being we we we. I found it really annoying, but I'm me.

I don't have anything else to add because I haven't listened to any avant-prog lately, except that you might find this video interesting.

I need that new Led Bib.  I was lucky to catch them live at Marlborough Jazz Festival last year though.

Very cool, let me know when you get around to reviewing it so I can see what you think.

No, but real life got in the way for a bit. I'm actually listening to Art Bears as we speak, (they're next on the list). I'm on my fourth listen of Winter Songs now but I haven't found the right words for it yet. I'm hoping to run the two blogs concurrently, with weekly updates on both (though this will naturally decrease if I manage to find some paid work).

Avant-garde is a broad, broad church, and the scope of my blog goes way beyond "pure" avant. I'm interested in basically anything a bit odd, be it quirky pop, outsider music or full-blown free improv.

Just stylistic preference. I want this blog to have the tone of a zine/independent organ rather than a strictly personal blog, so I'm not always necessarily writing from an "I" perspective. Once things are up and running a bit more I was thinking of looking for other people to contribute reviews and features, which would help in this regard. Interested?

Awesome! I'll check that just as soon as Dagmar stops yelping.

Edit: Watched it now - awesome stuff! I love TED.

Here's a picture showing Pat reacting to the news that a rare edition of his favourite avant-prog stuff is to be found in his close vicinity:

I might be, but there is the problem that I'm so, so lazy and I really don't actually listen to music very frequently most of the time. I have been thinking about writing about some things that are beyond the scope of PA, if I ever actually do it I'll let you know.

Just as my poor credit card begins to recover from Christmas Led Bib go and release another album - who needs bread and shoes anyway?

This is why I try and avoid even looking at Wayside.

Bread is cheaper than shoes. Thus, just use bread as shoes to save for albums.

Just given the new Led Bib an initial airing. First reactions: Dead tasty, possibly better than Sensible Shoes though effectively just more of the same, a bit leaner, more confident. Will slap the headphones on and give it a really close listen later today.

ARNO??? Well, I... Why not, but still I'm a bit puzzled. I should check his albums.
Oh, and by the way, hello, Alucard.

My copy of the new Jean Louis album arrived today so a second listening of Led Bib has been postponed till tomorrow.

First impressions of Morse... Bloody hell. Phenomenal.
